The microphone/button is smaller than it looks in the photo, and works exactly like the standard iPhone white headphones (answer calls, pause music, skip tracks etc) If you wear them properly (with the longer side around the back of your neck, they don't pull out of your ears at all. I suspect the previous poster was not using them as the manufacturer intended! All in all, these are very good headphones.
