This bright cuddly stacker is a hit with my son. He is too small to stack it yet but laughs when we put the soft rings on his hands and feet. Each ring makes a different sound and has a cute animal face on it. The crinkly cat is just the right size for little hands.

The First Years Peek-A-Boo Phone

Bought this 3 yrs ago for our first son. Our 2nd son, now 1 yr old loves it just as much and it goes on and on and on.

The buttons were quite hard for our eldest to master as you do need some force to activate them and he probably didn't manage until he was well over 18 months. However our 2nd son manages quite well at a year. Also buttons don't go off "accidentally" in the middle of the night like some other electronic toys stuck at the bottom of the toy box ...

The four sounds produced by the buttons are great fun as one sounds like a ringing phone which gets aunties and grannies every time ("Is that the phone?") and the laughing sound really amused both boys.

Philips Baby Care SCD489 - Deluxe DECT Baby Monitor

Have to agree with the general message here - this is a good monitor while it lasts, but in my experience that isn't very long.

The battery life was absolutely appalling despite us having replaced the rechargeable batteries twice in 18 months.

Belt clip was useful while it lasted (about two months).

Lullabies and sensitivity control have been useful, and generally it has good reception (my garden is 140ft and I can use it at the bottom, no problem).

Most irritating is battery life, which started bad and got worse. The final straw was two weeks ago in Turkey when the monitor gave up altogether saying the batteries were shot (we bought new rechargeables - again - and then tried normal ones ... Read More:

Have to agree with the general message here - this is a good monitor while it lasts, but in my experience that isn't very long.

Pintoy Wooden Frog Chair

After breaking cheap plastic chairs, I bought this green frog chair for my 2 and 1/2 year old. It is very well made and easy to assemble. It is sturdy wood and strong enough to hold a much larger child. It is also attractive and easy to clean. For me it was worth the cost and would make a good gift as well.

Tomy Discovery Swap 'n' Roll Snail

This is a very annoying toy - it is soo loud, there is no off switch, and it can't 'free-wheel' if you take the batteries out. At first my daughter burst into tears whenever the music started but after a couple of months (about a year old) she was very happy playing with it. It is ME who hates it! Whenever I put toys in the toybox I set this thing off, aarghh!
