I bought this comic based partly on the positive feedback it has received and the hype surrounding it; however such hype can create unrealistic expectations. That isn't to say Watchmen isn't a fantastic work of fiction, simply it wasn't what I expected.
The story begins with an intriguing murder mystery that helps to introduce one the books greatest characters, Rorschach. After this promising start the story slows down considerably with the majority of the book dedicated more to the development of the main characters rather than the story itself. The deliberate slow pacing and exploration of the inner landscape can make reading Watchmen difficult as developments in the main story take an age to develop.

Some of Alan Moore's earliest work, this is a collection of - mostly - unconnected short stories published in "2000AD" in the early 1980's. Considering their age, they remain remarkably fresh and inventive, with flashes of dark humour. What sets these tales out from his later work is a certain economy of style; in a few pages Moore can make readers laugh whilst prompting some quite profound questions in their minds.
Thoroughly recommended - if only as light relief whilst working through the "Travellers Almanac" in volume 2 of the LoEG!

Boys,
For those of us who were at school during the eighties and who looked forward to seeing our blue skinned hero each week, get this book. Yes, it's in black and white but let's face it who cares. All that matters is seeing Rogue and his biochipped buddies kick Nort arse.
I have shown this to my eldest son and he thought it was great. That, gentlemen is all you need.
Take a trip down memory lane, immerse yourself in it's pages and lose a bit of time to yourself. Enjoy!

When Pat Mills developed the ABC Warriors, he allegedly stopped in frustration after each artist was only able to complete one or two strips. Therefore this first volume is a hodgepodge of styles. However, the general impression is good, especially with fine artwork by Brendan McCarthy, Mike McMahon, Dave Gibbons, and even Carlos Ezquerra does a few progs. (I guess it is hard to draw 7 very different robots every prog).
Probably most important for the creation of the artwork was the initial work by Kevin Oneill, who made it possible for the tie-in with Nemesis later.
This covers the early ABC Warriors strips up to the formation of the team of 7 (Happy Shrapnell, Joe Pineapples, Hammerstein, Dreadlock, Blackblood, Steelhorn / The Mess, Mongrol) and including ... Read More:
