I bought this originally for myself as I am studying French, German and Spanish (for fun would you believe) but it is so easy to learn that my 7 year old has it on her iPod and we are starting to have conversations.
(I also speak to her in German at times and due to how easy these CD's are, she is able to have limited chats in that too.)

There are some tunes in the background which phrases are laid over in time, and you hear them and lock them in your mind along with the tune. The guys voice is almost hypnotic and the woman who speaks with him is clear and easy to understand making it ultra easy to repeat and learn.

Perhaps I just don't learn this way. The music did nothing for me, and I can't think of any phrases "anchored into my long term memory". Perhaps I don't play it enough.

The CD is fine if you want to learn stock phrases like "I would like to order...", "Have you got..." "Is there...." but what do you do when someone responds in German.

I want to learn German so I can ask, understand the answer and respond. It will help you "get by" but not to have a conversation - go for broke and get Michel Thomas instead.

I have bought vol 1 and 2 and have found both cd's excellent. Undoubtedly it is a good way of learning particularly if you are an auditory learner-the phrases really do seem to stick in the memory.
I like the music although would have prefered some greek tunes for added interest.
My only real criticism is about the small book that is included with the cd;the way the Greek has been transliterated is confusing. I have virtually every Greek book on the market as I teach Greek and have never seen Greek transliterated in this way.
Another minor criticism for vol 2 is after listening to the cd over and over again the female speaker's giggling gets a little annoying.
Overall I would recommend this series to people wanting to speak a good level ... Read More:

I bought this last week and it's brilliant - I've just ordered the second volume. It totally suits my way of learning and is very easy to use. it does work rapidly and is much more pleasnt to listen to than those dreadful CD's with mock conversations in them. i'm really enjoying using it. HIghly effective - would recommend! :)

This is an amazing item, I have tried many diferent techniques to learn Italian and this is by far the best. I really do encourage you to buy this you won't regret it. The voices used are really good as well, they saying everything clearly allowing you to understand quicker. The music is also an added bonus it allows the words to stick in your brain faster, and makes the experience alot more enjoyable. With this product its not a matter of having to use it, but you want to use it. Fantastic.

I don't have a natural aptitude for language learning and have struggled through a whole range of books, tapes, CDs and classes to try to learn some useful Spanish. I love the EarWorms approach. The CD is catchy, fun and relaxed, and quite addictive. I just wish that they did a whole language package like this rather than just basic holiday or travel phrases. Looking forward to CD version 3 in this series. Great for anyone like me who struggles or who is easily bored by conventional teaching. Definitely 5 stars.

I don't have a natural aptitude for language learning and have struggled through a whole range of books, tapes, CDs and classes to try to learn some useful Spanish. I love the EarWorms approach. The CD is catchy, fun and relaxed, and quite addictive. I just wish that they did a whole language package like this rather than just basic holiday or travel phrases. Looking forward to CD version 3 in this series. Great for anyone like me who struggles or who is easily bored by conventional teaching. Definitely 5 stars.

I have many books and CD's and also my Fiance is a native Chinese Speaker from Beijing, so when I say this CD is good then you better beleave it!!
I work long hours and because my fiance speaks perfect english I'm lazy with my learning.

I used this cd for one night shift and then spoke to my fiance the next day, lets just say she was really impressed... yes I knew some of the stuff already and have visited China around 6 or 7 times now but I must say I have new found confidence in speaking the language more and not have to have my fiance ask for things etc... for me :)

I would recomend this to anyone wanting a good start with the language, as for another coment that says he was not understood and that it dose not teach you tones... mmmm try listening ... Read More:
