A tired idea, poorly executed. These stories lack the themes and learning that make Roahl Dahl's writing so good for children. Repetitive and lazy, tedious to read with an oweness on promoting unpleasant and bullying behaviour. Try Richmal Crompton's 'William' books for the same theme with craft.

As the mother of 2 boys I can highly recommend this whole collection of books.
My eldest son has now outgrown them but, I read them to my 5 year old almost every night. The stories are about normal things that are familiar to them like , eating vegetables (or not), doing homework (or not), school sports day, packed lunches, shopping, nits, dinner ladies..... They are easy to follow stories that are funny to kids
All I will add is if your child likes this book he will like them all!

The stories are told at a good pace for children, with plenty of dialogue.
In 'Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman' Henry's plans to win a best snowman competition go awry and he gets a bit of a come uppance!
The second story 'Horrid Henry's Rainy Day' has Henry writing a will, an unusual heme for a children's story but it works. Henry's thoughts on how he would come back to haunt people if he died of boredom is particulary funny.
When Moody Margeret sets up her own makeover business in the third story, it doesn't take Horrid Henry long to set up a rival one next door. But Henry's makeovers are rather different to Margaret's.
Horrid Henry's Author Visit is the final story in the collection. Henry ... Read More:

Horrid henry books always make me chuckle and this is no exeption they are funny for adults and children alike and they use a wide range of topics. The one slight critisisum i have of it is that i find that some of the stories can be a tad repetative at times. Overall a great fun book sutable for all ages and it is garretied to make you laugh!

We loved this Horrid Henry story in my family, especially the first chapter when HH spoils the Nativity play in order to get a bigger speaking part for himself! My seven year old son thought it was hilarious that HH said that there was room at the inn for Mary and Joseph (played by Moody Margaret and Perfect Peter). HH is every teacher's worst nightmare pupil, but you cannot help laughing at the things he does and says. We love all the Horrid Henry books and eagerly await every single one when it is released!
