Although I bought this with my four yeat old in mind,My almost three year old has enjoyed the work books just as much ,and thanks to her older sister is already pointing out letter sounds in her everyday activity's. This prouduct, has I feel given my children a head start on the road to learning!

I have been very keen to teach my son the letters of the alphabet but wanted to do it the right way. Having visited his school he will be attending next year, they do follow the Jolly phonics scheme and therefore these books have been great along with the work books. It's given me the confidence to teach and he has enjoyed the colourful pictures and tracing with his finger the letters. We are now moving on to book three after he has managed to read and write the letters in books one and two. Being a working parent and mum to a one year old aswell we are only able to do learning for an hour on a friday so these short to the point books are great. My husband also helps by going over a book for 5 mins at bedtime before reading a short story. It ... Read More:

I was keen to buy a book that would help my three year to not only learn the letters of the alphabet but to also learn the sounds using phonics as well. I thought buying this book would help. Instead, I found the characters dry and the plot of each story tiresome.
Each sound has the letter written in black and white with arrows showing the way the word is to be written, which is helpful. Then in the margin, there are examples of words to match the letter sounds- but they are tiny. Hard to see let alone read. And I don't mean to be petty but the pictures look more freakish then cute.
It was really difficult trying to get my daughter to sit and read the book, because she simply was not interested in the stories or characters ... Read More:

My granddaughter, who is approaching her fourth birthday, has just spent her first afternoon using the Jolly-Phonics CD-Rom and she loves it. What really amazed me is how quickly she became totally involved in the beautifully produced games, which are designed to introduce children to the 42 sounds in the phonics alphabet along with word recognition and spelling.
The production standards are high and the games engaging for youngsters with a visual and sound reward for successfully completing a task.
The main cartoon character, Inky Mouse, introduces the child to her various animal friends, including frogs, fish, butterflies, bees ants and other creatures. These characters (thankfully with British accents) then proceed to teach ... Read More:

I would happily recommend this set of books for even the youngest of children.
They are lovely and sturdy, with inset letter(s) on each page for your child to put their finger in and trace the shape, but most importantly they don't seem like an "educational" book to children! Even without focusing on the phonics element to the books, the pages are great fun to look at just for the pictures - there are recurring characters (eg a snake) which can be searched for on each page, and 2-4 pages at the rear of each book with exercises such as matching games, some with flaps to lift, which re-inforce the sounds covered in that book.
Because of these elements, my little girl (then aged 2) enjoyed looking at them just as much as my 4 year ... Read More:

I purchased these as my child is learning tricky words at school. These have so far been excellent as any words that he is struggling with have been stuck up on the wall at home to aid with recognition. As the previous reviewer mentioned these are large but for us that has been of benefit as he can see them from some distance. He's also had great fun and satisfaction removing them as he has learnt the words. We also used the hat to put in any words which he may need a refresher or is finding particularly hard to remember. For us these have been of huge benefit.

I home-school my 3 children and have found the whole Jolly Phonics approach and series of books and aids, to be invaluable. The grammar books build naturally and smoothly on from the the Phonics handbook, with the same cheerful, fun, graspable logic. Life is made, not just easier and stress-free for your child but easier and stress-free for the parents too. Love it. Will be sticking with Jolly Phonics all through my children's early years.
