Mein Kampf

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: Adolf Hitler

November 21, 2007
Well, may be I m going against the flow here, but this book, is one of the most boring, poorly written, waste of money and paper i ve ever read for ages.. Its full of hate, written by a guy who throw up his bitterness and hate of everything non German during pages after pages after pages..., like you would throw up when You re drunk....

It s brilliant to put you to sleep if you ve got insomnia though...

we all know about the context in which it was written and what it lead to. so, no need to make some fuss about it and call it a must read. when it s an absolute piece of human junk.and fuel for hate...
well. i read it.. did not like it, .. but that s my personal opinion.

The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: Shane Claiborne

February 01, 2006
One of the most powerful and engaging autobiographical works from a `frontline' Christian activist I've read in a long time. It's impossible not to like Shane Claiborne, whose infectious love for Jesus and total commitment to bringing his love to all, whether North Philadelphia's poor or the bombed citizens of Iraq, is plain to see. Claiborne is someone all Christians (and others) could learn from for sheer breadth of sympathy across the Christian traditions, sense of vocation, and depth of theological understanding blended with sassy political commitment to bringing about change. A must-read.

Cameron on Cameron: Conversations with Dylan Jones

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: David Cameron, Dylan Jones

August 18, 2008
I'm far from being a card-carrying Cameron fan, but this book, written as a series of interviews over the space of a year, provides a very modern approach to politics - open, direct, and frank. You certainly get to know Cameron's views on, well pretty much everything. Whether it's selective schooling, his opinion on Boris Johnson, or even the Royal Family. It's a fascinating and informative account, well written and entertaining

by: Ed Husain

May 03, 2007
An adolescent flirtation with extreme political ideas followed by the realisation that he was a bit less than educated.

All power to his rallying call for moderate muslims to have a public voice.

Tends to lend a bit of credence tothe Sam Harris theory that without moderate religion we wouldn't have extremist religion; after all, had Ed been brought up as an atheist he wouldn't have flirted with Islamism.

I am a white Zimbabwean and I was delighted to have the opportunity to read an unbiased attempt at recording history. I certainly learned a few things and being white does not make me proud. The only consolation is that blacks are no better. But I applaud the author's endeavours and the kindness with which the subject matter is managed regarding the actions of all parties involved.

My Trade: A Short History of British Journalism

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: Andrew Marr

July 01, 2005
The work of journalists, perhaps moreso than that of other professions, is often viewed in a stereotypical light. Andrew Marr's book however sweeps away much of the romance and glamour in favour of a down to earth this-is-how-it-is approach. He is well suited to the task, having moved through many of the important stages in the print and broadcast hierarchy over the course of his career.

Although the book is billed as a "short history of British journalism", most of the book is taken up with impressively detailed accounts of what a journalist does, how they do it, and why, addressing also issues of personal motivation, bias, editorial influence, government pressure... The historical section in fact only ends up occupying one chapter of this fairly ... Read More:

Ghost Wars: The Secret History of the CIA, Afghanistan and Bin Laden

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: Steve Coll

March 03, 2005
Well after reading this book, iam think did Steve Coll write the 9/11 Commision Report. As the 9/11 Report blames nobody in the CIA, FBI, NSA for 9/11. Coll fails even to mention the Bin Ladens being flown out of the USA on 9/12/01, when nobody was flying. The book fails to menion the the guy who knew the most about Osama, AL"CIADA" John Oneil . Oneil was the lead FBI investigator of the Cole bombing, resigned from the FBI becuase the Bush administration told him to "back off the Bin Laddens". John Oneil took over secuirty in the Twin Towers on 9/11 , he never made it out . Also mising was this,The first instance is the electronic memo of July 10, 2001 from Kenneth Williams, an FBI agent in Phoenix, Arizona, noting the number of students with ties to radical Islamic fundamentalists ... Things Can Only Get Better: Eighteen Miserable Years in the Life of a Labour Supporter, 1979-1997

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Political
by: John O'Farrell

May 01, 1999
Occasionally I see someone on the tube reading this book and I always feel envious that I no longer have the opportunity to read this book for the the first time again. I am of the same (general) age as O'Farrell so I am not sure that people in their twenties who don't remember Maggie T would get as much out of it as those of us who lived through the era O'Farrell describes but nevertheless I am confident that what they DO get out of it is more than they will get from most books out there on the shelves. As an utter cynicist who cannot see organised Labour (either the Old or New incarnation) through the rose-tinted glow as often does O'Farrell, I nevertheless acknowledge him as one of the finest humorists of his generation and I salute him! This book was a landmark for me as a review ... Read More:
