Although I didn't know what to expect when I bought this Edmondson Seuss tape (and the Mayall Seuss tape too), I tremendously enjoyed the production of both tapes. Both tapes have an impeccable selection of stories, and are impeccably read with character, relish and timing. This Edmondson tape offers both Cat in the Hat stories, together with Fox in Socks and Green Eggs and Ham. This is a superb selection with Edmondson offering an engaging and lively reading throughout. He relishes Seuss's rhymes and use of words, and characterises the various parts wonderfully. My minor gripe is that he could have made Knox sound more emotional and perturbed, but other than that this tape is beautifully produced, replete with hilarious sound effects and atmospheric ... The Secret Garden: A BBC Radio Full-cast Dramatisation (BBC Young Collection)

We have young children and bought the Secret Garden audio version for long car journeys to and from the Lake District. Our 7 year old daughter loved the story, which is beautifully written and dramatised superbly by the BBC for radio. Having gained familiarity with the story over the subsequent year, our daughter went on to read the book itself (aged 8). I am sure that she would not have tackled a children's classic of this nature without the prior support of the audio book. I can recommend this to other parents keen to encourage reading by their children.

We have young children and bought the Secret Garden audio version for long car journeys to and from the Lake District. I absolutley loved it...I couldn't put it down. I'm really anxious to read the next 3 in the series. if you like happy, exciting, sad, clever, and historical you'll LOVE it.I highly recommend it!

I absolutley loved it...I couldn't put it down. I'm really anxious to read the next 3 in the series. if you like happy, exciting, sad, clever, and historical you'll LOVE it.I highly recommend it!

I found the layout and style of the book very helpful. The colour coding, and breakdown into sensible, useful sections is very good for finding the right phrases. The section on communication difficulties provides some very good, useful phrases ('pardon', 'speak slowly, please', 'please repeat that', 'please write that down') that can really help out. I also found the glossary section at the back useful - the names of months, numbers, days of the week etc, and there are not many places where you can find Russian Grammar summed up one page.
Part of the reason I bought this book, rather than just the phrase book was the tape as I find them very helpful for pronunciation, but also for learning. If you've heard something out loud and tried saying it as well ... Read More:
