If you are looking for a light introductory guide to Windows Vista then look no further. If you are looking for a book that will get you out of trouble, then you'd be better looking at (for want of a better expression) more serious titles.

I think I must need a 'Total Idiot's Guide' as this was not what I thought it would be.
Being a complete beginner with dSLR, I thought this book would be a step-by-step guide on 'How To....' I was a bit wide of the mark - although the book says a lot about why you should do this over that, etc it left me lost on how to actually do it. So I'm using my camera on Auto until my Nikon book arrives. Let's hope I'll have more success with that one.

This is a beautiful book which has the best of both worlds, style and substance. Each idea is followed up with clear and precise examples, full of colour and creativity. It will challenge your old mindset .The writing is melodic and flows carrying you through the book with effortless style.
However, this is not a book for lazy mind , although its packed full of inspirational ideas ,it won't do the work for you.Its not a step by step guide to making presentations .The writer clearly explains his approach is not the fastest way , but in the long term it's the most rewarding. I've tried out plenty of his ideas and he's right.
It also teaches you to work within time constraints, so its anchored in the real world. It has an ... Read More:

I recently attended a two-day course on Adobe Photoshop CS3 as part of my conversion to digital photography and digital imaging. At the end of that course the students were all given a copy of this book which contains a training CD Rom. As I was already booked onto the "advanced course" in 14 days time, I eagerly put the CD into my computer to practise what I had learned. Only then did I discover the CD would not work without my having first purchased and installed the full Adobe Photoshop CS3 software.
In my case, I had already ordered that software so it was only a matter of a few days delay before I could get started. Just be warned that you cannot use this product without having first installed the full software package - and that is a separate purchase ... Read More:

If you`re like me, attention span of a newt, then this is the book for you!
I`ve got SO many books over the years about Photoshop and whilst i`ll get to about the 2nd chapter i get fed up and move on. Unless, that is, a book comes along that is superbly written and incredibly easy to follow, packed full of useful REAL LIFE information that you will and can ACTUALLY use....this is that book.
Its just an awesome piece of writing.
Simplicity its its key to success. You just follow the simple instructions, repeat, practice and tadaah!! You`ve got it!
Maybe this has just set a standard that other books should follow.....in my eyes it certainly has!

I've used Photoshop for a number of years now, and even teach it on a regular basis, but this book blew me away! It wasn't so much that all the information in it was new to me (though a lot was), but the way that Matt explains things is fantastic!
I think I managed to get as far as about page 10 before I went "wow, that's brilliant!".

The book covers enough detail for this exam (its main purpose). I found the book concise and to the point. I was able to pass using this as my main study tool. If you have passed the 70-270 exam you find this easy reading, as this exam is closer to the MCDST 70-271. i.e.
+ no requiremnts for automated installs
+ AD or group policy etc
Basically it is an easy read if your familiar with the previous XP exams.

This is a great book that introduces all the new characteristics of the Windows Server 2008, but also great for those who want to prepare for the MCITP 70-647 Exam. You can find topics such as the new DNS System, Terminal Services, networking, virtualization (very hot topic!) and a lot of other hot topics as well.
I liked the "real world" examples given by the authors, and also the test and review questions at the end of each chapter.
Covers all you need to know about the new Windows Server 2008. Highly recommended title.

I bought this book about a months ago and have just finished going through it a few days ago. So is it worth it?...depends on what u want to know. I am proficient in photoshop and know indesign to an extent, so certain tools, such as pen, brush, mask etc were easy to get to grips with. The book covers approx 50% of the programs features which annoyed me a bit. If u've used illustrator before, then i wouldn't recommend this book, it does go through new features such as live color etc, but i think u can easily read up about that on the net. I'm much more familiar with the tools and its quite a genius program once u get ur hear around it. My advice would be to get this book if ur a complete newby, even if ur a photoshop genius like me, the integration is amazing...but do also buy another ... Read More:
