I read this book 2 years ago, and I can honestly say that is began a journey of infinite Light in my life... it opened doors I did not know existed, and every element of my life has trully been transformed...

I can only speak on personal experience, and I will not tell people to read this, but all I can say is that the proof is in the pudding...

This was one of my sources for an essay I wrote on how witchcraft, wise men and divination etc were tolerated more in Britain - even more so in Wales - after the Reformation, while in Catholic Europe, thousands were executed for practicing the so-called "dark arts."
When Catholicism disappeared in Britain, so did all its 'magic' (the rites, ceremonies and blessings that had replaced old pagan charms and offerings). This rather perplexing (at first glance) work has become a gem I've referred to, and found useful, in the oddest of times.

It's a reference book far more than a reading book (in the same way as a dictionary - you don't read it cover to cover) but the breadth of information it contains is fascinating. The "meat" of the book, as a previous reviewer put it, is an extended table taking as its starting point the numbers O to 32, each of which relate to a path or sphere on the Tree of Life. Each column takes a particular type of thing (a plant, a mineral, gods of various pantheons, or something much more arcane like the later columns - "the Angelic Functions in the World of Yetzirah" probably won't mean much unless you're pretty hardcore!) and slots it ... Firstly, I should say that I have only thoroughly read the original title, 'The Tree of Life', of which the above is a rewrite or rename. That was my introduction to the Qabalah (incidentally, I'm not quite sure why the author has changed the English version of the name to Kabbalah from his previously preferred Qabalah), and I have to say it has made an enormous influence on my life. I now believe I have a better than average understanding of Qabalah (I even understand what Regardie is trying to say), so have now bought this new version for several good friends who have expressed an interest, but who I don't want to put off with some of the excessively esoteric or religion biased material that's around. Most people who are involved in Kabbalah are "blinded" by their spirituality and their focus on spiritual growth. They mean well, but the Berg's Kabbalah organization is very much a cult. Yes. A cult.

The sad thing is that most people involved in Kabbalah don't even know they are in a cult (but isn't that the nature of a cult anyway?), that is until they've spent several thousand dollars or so on their kabbalistic spiritual growth (e.g., taking kabbalah classes, buying expensive kabbalah jewelry and the red string, purchasing kabbalah books, etc.).

In other words, Kabbalah is basically a very successful and systematic money making machine.
