I was a late convert to the world of Buffy. Like many I had watched it as a teenager, enjoyed it, and then been persuaded by who knows who, that it was not something one should be proud of watching. Then I watched Serenity and thought it was great, backtracked to firefly and loved that too. Then one day somebody told me that the same guy that did those, did buffy. "WHAT!" I said, "That cant be!", half clouded by the fact that everybody said that Buffy was rubbish, half trying to cover up my embarrassment of not making this ling earlier.
So to cut a long story short, I watched all of Buffy in a very short time, and I loved it. And then I watched Angel and I loved it less, but loved it all the same.

I started this book with high hopes; i had read the reviews here and was convinced that i had an enjoyable read before me (many have even stated that it is the greatest book ever written). In fact, i found it dull and tedious; every chapter has a minor event in it, ending in a patronising moral. I ended up skimming the book and giving it to charity. The worst book i've read in a while.

Audiobooks are a great thing. Only recently, have I started getting into them, when the Radio Times gave away free copies of Dr. Who: The Resurrection Casket (without any background music/sound effects). Interested, I put it on my iPod and really enjoyed listening to it.
Wanting to listen to more audiobooks as a result, I learned of Dr. Who: Pest Control (written by Peter Anghelides) and decided to give it a hear. And yet again, I really enjoyed listening to an audiobook and putting it on my iPod.
Set sometime during Series 4 of the TV series, the Doctor and Donna Noble arrive on a distant planet, caught in-between the warring forces of humans and centaur-creatures known as the Acquarby. Unfortunately, things get even more complicated ... Read More:

When I read that Joss Whedon was collaborating with the Buffy comic people I jumped out of my seat. This is season 8 but in comic format, and boy is it good...I have just started reading "No Future for you" which is the second book collecting the next 5 or so issues. Buffy at war with more than just demons! Dawn has for some reason become a giant! Xander a general type of the slayer army! Willow can...well I havent given much away here and dont want to risk giving any more. Suffice to say that there are more than a few twists here including some old and terrible characters from the Buffyverse. Take it from me once you pick this book up you wont be putting it down until the very last page. Also Angel has a similar thing going on with a Season 6 comic series.

The adventures of the first starship Enterprise continue in the latest novel sequel to a TV series that ended too soon. And in the tradition of that series, a blank spot in the rest of the Star Trek universe has been filled in.
The Koybayashi Maru was first referred to in the beginning of the film "The Wrath of Khan" as part of a Starfleet cadet training exercise. A freighter in trouble lures the trainee crew into an ambush. This book brings us the original ambush.
The Romulans are preparing war against Earth and the new Coalition of Planets, the forerunner of the Federation. Their secret weapon is a device that allows them to take control of other ships, first Klingon, later others. Using captured Klingon ships, they are on the verge of provoking ... Read More:

Given this as a Christmas present, I was not immediately inspired, however I did dip into it and found myself rather hooked!
As a reference book it is wonderful- all those little things that you weren't sure about... all those things you were wondering...
How does that work?
Who was he?
How did he do that?
Which episode did that happen?
What does a Compact Laser Deluxe do? Who had one, and, you know... Where?!
Get all your questions answered and more in this neat, beautifully illustrated guide to the world that is uniquely Doctor Who!
The entire book it dedicated to every useful, and er, not so useful fact that is Doctor who. Who knows what happened in 1336 with the doctor, Rose and Captain Jack? What was the doctor planning ... Read More:

I'm not going to spoil this for potential readers but the first story has to be the best only becasue of the plot twists regarding Kirk and Sarek, and shows that maybe humans weren't really that important in forming something like a UFP.
Story two is good as well, showing us how Things could have gone for Voyager if they hadn't had time to ally with the Borg, also gives us a more concrete explenation of WHY 8472 were attacking, and why a species that lives in Fluidic space needs three legs.
Story three, well it was a good read, but too heavilly focuses on Ezri and Bashir, makeing the rest of the cast with the exception of the Botany Bays crew seem two dimensional. Although the choices of who was aboard was a pleasent suprise.

This is an extremely bog standard aliens-want-to-take-over-the-Earth plot set in 1902. Don't be fooled by the title, the Judoon barely feature and when they do its almost as though budget limitations have carried over to print form, its only right at the very end that one of them takes his helmet off.
The plot, scant as it is sees the Doctor trying to track down Balmoral castle which has vanished in a cloud of upwards rain whilst Martha and an Edwardian solider are in London in search of the bad guys. The Doctor and Martha sort of sound like themselves but not quite enough to be convincing, both seem to have accents from the Dick Van Dyke school of Cockney Rhyming Slang. Far worse however are the Edwardian characters including King Edward VII himself who all sound ... Read More:
