OK I confess - I am a bit of a sucker for the whole moleskine thing. On my shelf I've got several different formats, all of which get used regularly in different contexts.
I DO agree with a previous reader that the paper is just a tad to thin for fountain pen ink - although that is how I use my large notebook. The nib of the pen glides particularly well over the paper, so I tend to ignore the fact that it seeps through a bit.
On the whole - a good practical size, well-made, and a joy to have available for all kinds of note-taking.

These pocket books are just brilliant. Small enough to carry around, top quality paper and a pleasure to write on.You are in good company. These were the notebook of choice for Hemmingway,Picasso, and many other literary and artistic greats. You almost feel smarter just having one in your pocket or bag."Don't trust your memory. When you listen to something valuable, write it down. When you come across something important, write it down."- Jim Rohn. These beauties make it so easy and pleasant to do just that

This thing just oozes that charm you get from a tried and tested product, it is the Morgan sports car of the diary world. Clear and easy to use, with year planners for the rest of 2008/09 and 2010. The only reason I have dropped a star is that it is somewhat USA based and this just doesnt feel right with this sort of quality product.

I originally bought the large ruled notebook, but found that the line spaces were a little on the narrow side for me. Having now got hold of the plain version, it's obvious that this is the one I should have bought in the first place; I much prefer a blank space rather than blank lines. But each to their own.
Having used mine for a few weeks, I can find no fault with the classic Moleskine design or the quality of the workmanship. I like the off-white paper which is neither too thin or too thick. The overall size of this notebook - rather than the pocket version - is perfect, neither too large or too small. And there are enough pages to store my genius ideas or inane ramblings for a long time, if not years. If you tend to jot ... Read More:

This covetable cult pairing of diary and slimline notebook is the stuff of every stationery junkie's dreams. The quality is excellent, and the red cover delectable. It also comes with a small five tab notebook nestled in a gusseted (ahh, love that word "gusset") pocket at the back of the diary. Plus three ridiculous sheets of diary stickers.
Just to be boring however, this is NOT an easy diary to find your way through - the month names are small and greyish, hence difficult to flick forward to a particular month.
Nevertheless, this is a thing of beauty, and if not a joy for ever, certainly for 18 months.

This sketchbook is designed with the traveller in mind: hard, durable covers held shut with a ribbon of elastic, contains plenty of heavy weight, durable paper, and a handy fold-out pocket in the back for loose paper paraphernalia. The size won't hog too much bag space and could probably fit inside a coat pocket. In any event it isn't too cumbersome to carry about in the hand.
A thing I would say is the paper is exceptionally smooth, having little tooth, and proves to have a slightly resistive quality with certain media. It's fabulous to work on with inks, felt pens etc., not so easy with water-based paints and some pencils - if you prefer these to inkwork then I would suggest looking at other books, for example the Moleskine watercolour ... This is a good size book, nicely bound and printed on good quality paper - glossy but not too glossy. The book is all about the art. There is surprisingly just about 30 pages of text, and even that is strewn with example of Elvgren's work (plus a few by those whose work he admired). At the back of the book, the text appears again in French and German.
While it is easy to describe Elvgren's work in light-weight terms such as "cheesecake", much of his work consisted of advertisements for major companies, calendars, magazine covers, illustrations and various other commissions. He was a master of his craft, a seriously capable portrait artist. His ability to capture the shape and character of male and female form with verve and fluidity ... Read More:
