This is the best parenting book I have ever read and used. It has more applicability and direct relevance to my parenting than any other.

I saw the author of this book interviewed on TV a while back and decided to buy this book. I was intrigued by his philosophy to teach your children at age eight, and to teach kids that sex is the "most wonderful, awesome thing in the world."

I read the book and decided to give it a try on our nine year old. We followed their directions and dialog pretty closely and even used the children's book "Where did I come from" as part of the discussion (this is the book they recommend). I love Anne of Green Gables and thought this book would be just as good.

Emily is a spoilt brat. She seems to think, along with everyone else at New moon farm, that being a Murrey means you are better than everybody else. She is always feeling sorry for herself. the way she goes on about aunt Elizabeth, who is really a big softie, is very annoying. Her teacher had a perfect right to tell her off when she was writing poetry instead of doing her maths, and yet she goes on about how mean she is.


She only become friends with people who are either clever, determind, or pretty, most people don't seem good enough for herto be with according to the book.

If you need a book about grammar or literary agents then this isn't it. It is a book purely about releasing creative energy through the medium of writing.

Personally, I found the book exciting to read. I was burning up with enthusiasm to get at the word processor and I actually followed the concrete advice he gives. All I can say is that it worked for me: I had not written before and I have now.

Surely the most important thing for a writer is to write and be passionate about writing? If there is a better way to say what you want to say then be a filmaker or a painter or a critic.

This children's picture book has stayed with us for 20 years now since it was given to our daughter by her grandma.
Somehow it seems like a small jewel in book form - so simple in its story, words and drawings it delivers a simple message to " be as you are!" And not to succumb to "what people say or think or what is "right" in the public eye...or what your peer group tries to indoctrinate - a valid thought to contemplate on.....This book is timeless....a real classic and a lovely 5 minute meditation also for adults! It always makes me smile when I read it!

Psychology of Handwriting

I picked up this and the Idiots Guide to... books on Handwriting Analysis. I read this first, in the hope that it would be detailed and provide context for the other.

Its a nice small book, thats easily read and completed in a matter of hours rather than days. However, there is some valuable information inside, though its not always clearly explained. Its good to know why a large y loop shows something, but some explanation of why this is so would have helped. Especially in a book that leans on psychoanalsis.

Still, its my first graphology book, and though I don't know if its better than the Idiots guide yet (will review that too) I did find it useful and rather enjoyed seeing handwriting styles again - especially in the era of the typeface!

This book is excellent for university students studying music, it works through exercises and skills which are much needed for keyboard skills in any university course. It may also be suited to a-level students.
