I read this book for the first time when I started teaching and it was the set book for the little girls in my class.
They loved it and we spent happy hours discussing it.
I ordered it from Amazon this year and was just as delighted many years later, to re-read the book.
It has a quiet charm about it, a philosophical appreciation of the importance of making things as good as you can, even when money is very scarce.
There is no mawkish sentimentality about it, just a pleasant calm.
However, predominantly, it is a book for children who love it now just as much as the children did when it was first published.

If you want to know the love of The God who sent His only son to die so that we could spend eternity in His loving arms-read this book. It is personal and real rather than just religious and can encourage you through all your darkest days.
I have brought this book for several friends and everyone has been encouraged comforted and blessed and reminded of God's true and unfailing love. I pray that it blesses you all as much.

It is also full of useful information such as proverbs, colloquialisms and general knowledge. There are even two pages of traffic signs at the back.

Above all this book was fun! I remember the whole class taking this book into the air raid shelter to use for team quizzes to pass the time until the All Clear sounded.
