Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Antiquarian- Rare and Collectable
by: Daniel Quinn

January 01, 1920
This book is very dangerous. After reading it, I was reeling from the shock for about two weeks. Once you let it seep in, the message is so obvious. The message in this book is applicable to every single person on this planet, and any argument you could ever have can be traced back to principles laid down in this book. It's nice and easy to read, but the message in intense. YOU must read this book.

Story of Babar, the Little Elephant, The (Babar Books (Random House))

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Antiquarian- Rare and Collectable
by: Jean de Brunhoff

This is a wonderful little book. I have such loveley memories of reading Babar the Elephant with my parents when I was little and I was delighted to find it to read to my children. Like me they love the story and the beautiful illustrations - it is a bed time favourite.

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Antiquarian- Rare and Collectable
by: Jean-Jacques Rousseau

January 01, 1945
JJ meanders around education and religion and the best way to live, and as such, with his wonderful eleloquence, it's a highly recommended book; but understanding his life and times would definitely assist the reader in tolerating the meandering fantasy.
Certainly solid views on taming Religion, (credited to a Savoyard Vicar), and moderation and common sense living, and the natural wholesome ways on bringing up children leave one stimulated and impressed. But the man who gave all his kids away to a foundling home indulging himself like this in such detail ... got a bit tiresome.

The Grapes of Wrath

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Antiquarian- Rare and Collectable
by: John Steinbeck

1895
Steinbeck illustrates the Joad family's Westward journey with a gritty hand. Interloping chapters render a descriptive view of the 1930s displacement and the effects on both the resident and migrating communities.

Thoroughly well considered and written, among the most important and provocative upshots is its absolute relevance today.

Black Fleet Trilogy 1: Before the Storm (Star Wars)

Childrens Toy Shop > Books > Antiquarian- Rare and Collectable
by: Michael P. Kube-McDowell

I’ve read quite a few reviews for the black fleet trilogy and most seem to slate it a lot. Initially at the first read I didn’t really rate this book as the plots didn’t seem to advance anything in the star wars universe (except the storyline with Leia). But after reading it through a few times I started to appreciate it.

There are 3 separate storylines which eventually converge at the end. It starts with Luke becoming a hermit like Obi Wan and Yoda (the explanation of which is plausible and a good start) but later he goes off with a woman called Akanah to look for his mother. It turns out that his mother and Akanah are of the Fallanassi, a group like the Jedi but who use the so-called White Current instead of the Force. ... Read More:
