The style of this book surpasses anything that Mr. Bradshaw has written. In other words, although his other books are nice, his writing style is not fluent. He must have had help perhaps, but this one flows fluently. The quality of the material is earth shattering. Very few books have I read from cover to cover within a week and this one I did. This is something I can go over and over.

There are few pocket editions of the RSV currently available (July 2003) so it is good to find two here at Amazon. The RSV (and the NRSV) need no comment from me as regards the text. They are the best available translations in English (for all but the right wing of some denominations). But oh dear me. The quality of this volume is abominable - all due to the binding. It could not have been done any cheaper! In fact after just 2 months of use the spine has cracked in 2 places: Proverbs 16 and Matthew 3. If this is the quality which Collins Bible (A Division of HarperCollins Publishers for THE BIBLE SOCIETIES - according to the front page) produces then it might be better to purchase a larger version from Oxford where you get ... Well, Finally after all the other previous books in the Death Gate Cycle, many of the seperate storylines are starting to get wound up like never before. The previous book, "Hand of Chaos" starts to do this but just does not quite have the action that this one did.
You finally get a look at what goes on inside the Labrinth itself. No longer are the dwellers just from one of the character's memories. Now you actually get a big feel for what is soon to happen with the sundered worlds.....
I will not say that this has been the best I have read in the series so far. I still cannot decide whether "The Fire Sea" was better written. Either way, it is a great book if you have read (at least 2 of ... Read More:

Having first read Ishmael and now this book, I have just started on my third Daniel Quinn book "the Story of B". I have always thought along similar lines as the philosophy set out in these books, but now find that they are shaking my foundations: I am a teacher and have started to question the whole educational system as a result of reading this book. Where do I go from here? As Ishmael says: You may reach one or a million people with the message. And that's what I'll try.

Imagine if the characters of Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights were werewolves and you'll get an idea of this book. The setting is the English moors in the 1800's, the plot is a historical saga but with the added complication that the main characters are all werewolves. Cassidy Holt is loup garou she was orphaned after her mother died before she could teach her to Change her only remaining family is her distant cousins in England who take her in. Cassidy is drawn to the mesmerising Earl of Greyburn Braden Foster who as the leader of the werewolf clan must choose between his attraction to Cassidy and his duty to his cause to unite the werewolf families in marriage and maintain the purity of their loup garou bloodlines in order to prevent the demise ... If you need a book about grammar or literary agents then this isn't it. It is a book purely about releasing creative energy through the medium of writing.
Personally, I found the book exciting to read. I was burning up with enthusiasm to get at the word processor and I actually followed the concrete advice he gives. All I can say is that it worked for me: I had not written before and I have now.
Surely the most important thing for a writer is to write and be passionate about writing? If there is a better way to say what you want to say then be a filmaker or a painter or a critic.

As a fan of mystery novels I picked up this book hoping it could be a light read for a holiday however as I read on I found the characters to be one-dimensional, the plot predictable and the humour dull and uninspired. It really was a chore finishing this book and I was dissapointed as I had been expecting it to be funny, exciting and a change from the usual serious crime novel I read.
