I love this package!!! It is the nearest you'll get to an evening class in Spanish.
It does take a bit of time to work out how the course will best suit you but that is the beauty of it - you do what works for you. A previous reviewer missed the point about the accompanying CD - that is an extra to the course and is just a dialogue which you can follow in the book. It isn't intended as a 'learn as you go along'.
The best thing about this package for me is that you can practise speaking and listening back to yourself speaking spanish. In most courses you can practise phrases but only in your head. It's completely different saying them out loud - when everything you think you know goes completely out of your ... Read More:

It was like this : I think I'll just have a lie down a listen to my new poetry CD. Nice poems, mellow voices and ...diddle - a dee, diddle a dee,
DIDDLE - A -DEE, DEE, DEE!!! What the heck is that electonic racket? The whole experience was ruined by the toy-like, tinny segue music between tracks. I'm going to have to " edit " these out. 'Tis a pity as the poetry is varied, entertaining and well read. I suppose if you planning to stay awake, it'll be O.K. but I'm going to knock off some stars for the unwelcome noise.

I learnt more from the first CD than from five years at school. Without doubt this is the easiest and most effective way to learn French. I recently returned from France on a family holiday. I certainly had more confidence than ever before when speaking French.
You are advised to pause the CD and try things out for yourself before the students attempt it, but to be honest you can usually get there before them. I've used the CDs in the car and when out jogging, with no need to pause. If I had to find a groan it would be at the 'not so good' student. Sometimes you get the feeling that she isn't listening and is in her own little world. There are times when I think Michel is thinking the same thing about her.
If you're serious about ... Read More:

It may be over thirty years old, but this book still stands out as one of the best Russian textbooks available. An invaluable tool for all levels of Russian, I found it most useful as a revision aid for my A level exams, and a useful preparation for degree level Russian. Designed to bring students up to the level of the old A level, it deals methodically and comprehensively with all aspects of the Russian language, and its exercises allow practice in what has been learnt, encompassing the grammar and vocabulary of the past few chapters. Be aware, however, that it does proceed at quite a pace, and regular, dedicated study is needed, that allows for revision and repetition (the only real way to learn a language). Even if you just sit down with it for twenty minutes ... Read More:

...Dad's Army, or how sweet rationing drove a teacher to steal from his pupils, or what happened when an elephant got loose in the blackout, the full foul facts about life on the home front are laid out before your ears. It's packed with quizzes, sketches and jokes, as well as mini-dramas and real life re-enactments - telling you the kind of foul facts which just aren't available from a classroom education! This book is like most of the other Horrible Histories which have very practical timeline which are terrific! Rating: 7/ 10.

Once again, Lynda La Plante gives a thoroughly gripping read. The characters jump to life and give the impression that you are part of the scene of investigations, and the police teams investigating the series of events. The storyline has topical issues, and some sinister practices. Overall, an excellent read.

I found this tape collection just by accident and I am glad that I did. This is just the best - witty and funny and fast paced, I can't wait to add more volumes to my collection.

Dylan Thomas reads his own poems and also some short stories. The readings are theatrical performances, and there was a genuine audience for them at the time. Poets reading their own work appear rarely on disk or tape. Recording was invneted at the end of the nineteenth century, so most of the great poets are, of course, excluded. There is a wax cylinder of a muffled Browning slightly misquoting How They Brought The Goods News from Ghent to Aix, but this is a curiosity. Most of the leading poets of the first half of the 20th century (lesser poets than their predecessors, though often with original and memorable styles) are unrecorded, but not Thomas. In the second half of the century many poets of the Arts Administration Age may have recorded their works, but one doubts ... Read More:

The author successfully mixes real people, from the turbulent time of Henry VIII, with his fictional character Mathew Shardlake. The latter being an ex-monk, owing to the earlier dissolution of the monasteries, and now a lawyer who engages in detective work on the side. The story is an intriguing one that keeps one gripped throughout aided by the superb reading by Anton Lessor, who breathes life into all the various characters. The seven predictions from the Bible's book of Revelation are revealed as the template for seven gruesome murders. I was reminded a bit of David Hewson's first book in his modern-day Rome series in the inventiveness of the plot.
