This book appealed to year 5. They loved it infact. They voted it 5/5 in the book club. The boys loved it as much as the girls, even though the main character is a girl.

This is a fantastic book for fans and collectors of the Famous Five, whatever their age. It is a handsome book, carefully and artistically produced. It is a thick hard-backed volume, 253 pages long, in full colour, and seemingly assembled with much love and respect as well as affection towards both Enid Blyton and the Famous Five.
The book is not only packed with plenty of articles on how to survive various situations, such as shipwrecks, being lost, crossing rivers, cracking codes, climbing rocks, spotting a liar, etc, but also contains a full-length new Famous Five story about a long lost treasure. The story portion of the book is excellently illustrated in full colour, in a style very reminiscent of the original 'Fives' illustrator, ... Read More:

First of all let me say that this book saved me from a painfully long wait at the dealership where I took my wife's minivan for service. I expected this to take about an hour or so, and that is what I was told when I got there. I should know by now not to trust these estimates, since I ended up being there for three hours. It was the perfect amount of time to finish this book though, which I had started that morning at home. Colfer helped me feel as if the three hours were only one, and that is really something to applaud!
Artemis' father is recovering in a hospital in Helsinki, from his shipwreck in the Arctic and further kidnapping by the Russian mafia. More important, he is a changed man, that has stopped considering gold to be the ultimate ... Read More:

We bought this book, published in 1971, when our 30 year-old was just 3 and it proved an enduring favourite for the whole family. It is one of the few books which our children insisted that we kept, even now, and one which we still catch them smiling at in their postgraduate gainfully employed maturity. The DVD might be good but little children deserve the fun of reading the book first with a grown-up to help them notice the delightful humour in the drawings. Don't hesitate - just buy it and enjoy it!

This book is one of the best I have ever read and I have read a lot. I think it really finishes of the series with a bang. I have loved reading all the Harry Potter's but this is just amazing. I would definitely say buy this book because you will regret it if you don't. For this money go ahead and buy.

I think this box is brilliant! Horrible Histories are the best books you could ever give a child who is even a little bit interested in the past. And this box would encourage any child to dip into and find out about the very different periods of history. The books are really funny and look great together in this complete set. I think this is an ideal present for children of 8 or a bit older. There's a lot of rubbish around so it's good to see this good quality item on sale at such a superb price. Most members of the family would probably enjoy having a look at these.

Suffice to say that this is another great set of tales, each standing on their own, that make up the trilogy of The Nomes. Gentle humour, less pointed than Discworld stories but no less entertaining. More suited to younger kids than some of the Discworld tales. Hugely enjoyable for adults and anyone else. No problems in recommending these stories for anyone.
Once again Mr Pratchett has demonstrated his wonderful ability as a tale-teller

We got the board book version of this book out of the library for our nearly two year old, and she loves it! The illustrations are fun and colourful, and the story is simple with easy rhymes and repetition. A perfect book to read aloud at the end of the day.

A fellow parent once gave me some advice; "only read stories to your children that YOU enjoy....." That was great advice to give because children tend to like repetition and I would often be "stuck" on the same book for nights on end.
I love the Mog stories and I must admit, have fallen in love with Mog. This was the first book I purchased in the series and even now the boys are older (10 and 7) they still enjoy my reading it to them.
