Adele Parks writes really entertaining books - of that there is no doubt. But they usually have a grittier under-belly of social conscience as well. This one, although v entertaining, was more chick lit than the others I felt. That said she really gets into the head of Elizabeth and her 'beyond everything' desire for kids, but it feels more superficial (or at least it did to me). In short, yes you will be entertained, no you probably won't be caused to think too much - and worse case, the simpering Elizabeth could really get on your nerves. This isn't the strongest of Adele Parks books, but it's better than lots of others in this genre.

I bought this book with high hopes of reading strong and convincing arguments against the idea of there being a supreme being. I'm no religious person and have my doubts that there is a god but this book is soooooo boring, disjointed, repetitive and clogged with very weak and almost ridiculous arguments and analogies. c'mon prof dawkins, u cud hav done better!

total waste of money...i cud have written a better book on the subject!

This book is so good it should be compulsary reading in schools. If every person lived their lives according to the wisdom of this book we would have no wars, no inequality, we'd respect other life forms and our environment, and we'd all be happier.

Jimmy Hendrix said: 'When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.' Those people who crave power are those with the most powerful eogs. If these people become aware thay they are infected with the ego disease they would surely embrace the power of love. In years to come this book will become known as the one that helped cure humanity of the ultimate cancer that is the ego.

Just finished this book. I love Jackie Collins books and this is written in a similar vein. I thought the characters were great - each one so individual - I think my favourite was Kellyanne but I thought they all had depth. I was really caring about each person and what happened to them. More please JJ.

'New Moon' (NM) is the second book in The Twilight Saga, written by the amazingly talented Stephenie Meyer.

'New Moon' starts roughly four months after the end of 'Twilight', with Bella's eighteenth birthday. What should be a trouble free birthday party turns into a disaster, after Bella gives herself a paper cut. This event, in a way, shapes the whole book, as it's the reason why Edward does what he does (no spoilers here), and the reason why he starts to re-think his relationship with Bella.

'New Moon' focuses more on the character of Jacob, who we were previously introduced to in 'Twilight'. He becomes very important to Bella, and plays a pivotal role in The Twilight Saga.

I don't want to give anything away about the 'plot' so that you have it all to savour. This book is pure pleasure. It's what learning to read was all about! I was laughing out loud every few minutes & cried buckets too. What an amazing writer Danny Wallace is. I'd loved all his other books (especially 'Join Me') but this is the best yet. My Danny Wallace books are the 1st ones I'd grab to take on a desert island or rescue from a house fire LOL! The only tragedy was knowing it would come to an end. I read it greedily in 2 days flat & can honestly say I feel really bereft now! Buy this book immediately or before if you can.

Sometimes it just happens. You come across a book in a bookshop about which you have heard so much but just never got round to reading it. On impulse, you buy it. Hence my introduction to Harper Lee's timeless classic "To Kill a Mocking-Bird". In danger of stating the obvious, this is an absolute jewel of a book, beautifully written, profound, compelling and highly evocative. My only regret is not reading it 30 years ago.

Although best known for his travel writing, Bryson's books on the English language are brilliant, so it's quite appropriate to find him writing about its most famous exponent.
A huge amount has been written about Shakespeare and his life, despite the fact that very little is really known about him. Bryson keeps the focus on what is definitely known, with little forays into some of the best theories about the rest. Where nothing is known at all, the 'lost years', he chooses to explore Elizabethan London and culture instead, putting the man in context.
Informative, wry, and well researched, this debunks plenty of Shakespeare myths in an accessible and enjoyable style, and Bryson turns out to be an excellent guide.

Flesh House

This was a real can't put down page turner. Paul Johnston's Quint Dalrymple, Jack Kerley's Carson Ryder and John Connolly's Charlie Parker books are all fantastic but you can't help liking the down at heeel main character, Logan McRae, even though you don't really know what he looks like etc. With this book, even when you can see what's coming, it hits you harder than you expect.

The only thing I didn't like about this book is the final five pages. Not gonna spoil it for anyone. Can't wait for the next book from a cracking writer who, despite the intensity of the narrative, still finds time to make the reader laugh with a dark wit.

I awarded five stars because I was enthralled, despite the ending.

Once Upon a Time in the North

Again you find yourself reading a review written by a fan of Philip Pullman's work. I must say, if you are a fan as well - BUY IT! Yet be aware of a slight disapointment, because it is far to short! Bear in mind that I myself am a passionate reader, and I need at least 50 pages to get started, and since this funny little book only contains about 96, I was left with a the small disappointment because I just (like so many others) wanted more. It was gone within the hour that I had recieved it. But if you are searching for a small quick read, a collector's object as a fan or you just want a bit more of Pullman's universe - this is it.

I have to say though, that this is the second pocket book which has been given to us by Pullman so why shouldn't he make a third? Well I hope so. ... Read More:
