Forget the modern-day female crime fighters - they haven't got the style, panache and charm of Modesty. She beguiles the men, and with Willie Garvin as her right hand man, she can take on anyone!

Even though Peter O'Donnell wrote this first Modesty Blaise novel in 1965, it's still fresh today - but he describes the fashions of the day beautifully.

I loved this book - and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Emily is Strange and darn proud of it, as we see her proclaiming in this collection of 30 postcards (15 different designs). The illustrations are beautifully executed with crisp, to the point captions and the best thing of all the cards are inked solely in black, red and white, no fancy colouring for Emily. The one liners are often funny and angsty with phrases emblazoned on the cards such as ‘I like nightmares’ and ‘don’t bother meow’. Accompanied by her four cats Miles, Mystery, Sabbath and, NeeChee, Emily is fast becoming an icon for the disgruntled youth of today and is doing it in her own kick ass fashion.

Yes, this is not going to be for someone just browsing this site thinking, 'Ooh, this looks like something I'd read'. This is for hardcore fans only. But that's the point. They are not trying to sell this to people new to the Penny Arcade universe, this is for fans of the online comic who would like a hard copy of the Penny Arcade archives.

Yes, this is simply a compendium of strips from the site with commentary from the creators. It's not trying to be anything else. They're not trying to explain each comic because you might not know why it's funny, they're explaining each comic because of the time many of the strips were 'valid' for.

Some strips are funny whenever you look at them, but they openly admit some are not funny ... Read More:

Every home should have this enormous volume of cartoons that span the decades. It's great for dipping into when you want a little lift, and need to be reminded that whatever happens, life is basically funny. It's great for getting the creative juices going too - as a writer, I have had some of my best ideas for stories from the one-liners in here. It's amazing value, and the only person who won't thank you for ordering it is the poor soul who has to deliver this weighty tome.
