There is much more elegance in this book than the last - once again Stephan brings his unique artistic talents to bring more strange and visionary illustrations/designs.
This book presents a mix of work created on paper and computer - there is also a nice step-tutorial at the end of the book where Stephan goes through in creating the front cover of this book. Insightful.
A counter part to this first book with a slight more focus on the mood/colour of the pieces. There are some really astounding artwork (pages 14-19).
His work/designs on the Heaven: The game are truly astonishing, intelligent not at all cliché - what is more, it looks like he has designed the sets, architecture by hand!

I received this as a gift, after attending the 20 years of Pixar exhibition.
Even though I haven't read all the text yet - this book is worth it for the pictures alone!!
Some absolutely wonderful painted and hand drawn images (among others) fill the pages.
It also gives a good insight into the Pixar design process, and where they got their inspiration from.
If you like Pixar / Cars, you will love this book!

Now that I own this book, I wouldn't be without it. 500 superb photographs with some fabulous fantasy costumes. I've not checked out the CD rom yet, but there are a further 600 photos there as well. Great value for money and a great addition to any budding comic artist's reference library. :) Definately recommended.

The book has a very nice cover and nearly every page is filled with glossy colour pictures. Most of the pictures of from 10 year old animations, toy story 1 for example, so don't expect anything new here.
I also thought the title was a bit misleading - "The complete Animation course: the principles, practice and techniques of successful animation". I wouldn't describe this book as a 'course' exactly, and I have yet to find any mention of a single principle of animation or technique.
There is NO disussion of timing, poses, arcs, weight, anything of that nature. Instead, the book gives a double page spread to each of its topics (most of the space on those pages is taken up by shots from Toy Story 1). Inside, you will find ... Read More:

I would not recommend this book if you are new to comic book art, there are many other titles such as, "How to draw comics the Marvel way" that would be more beneficial for a beginner. Although some of the material in this title duplicates that of other tuition books of this nature, Drawing Cutting Edge Comics is a lot more contemporary. The sections on anatomy are very useful, as is the advice on how to draw comic book heroines and villainesses! The chapter on page design helps the aspiring artist to think creatively and offers good suggestions on how to make each page grip the reader and achieve maximum impact. It also contains good advice on ways to create original characters and encourages "out of the box" thinking. If you're looking for ... Read More:

This book provides a very good in road to the world of comics for novices, and also provides plenty of opportunity for arguments amongst more knowledgeable readers-for example, why include 4 Daniel Clowes books and ignore the peerless David Boring?. Excellent nonetheless.

The political cartoon has played an important role in British history since the first emergence of the tradition in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. From biting political satire to light humoured jesting the tradition of political cartoons is one that is well established in British life. The second world war allowed British cartoonists almost a free reign in their attacks on Britains adversaries and Mark Bryant skillfully mixes the cartoons of various artists, some well known others not so, in such a way as to represent the key events of the war in a pictoral history. However, one of the key aspects of the book is the way in which cartoons from the German, Japanese, Italian and Vichy French side are also used to highlight the other side of ... Read More:

O.K. , this is how it happens, you wait for it for ages, you are really exited, and then it turnes out to be, Well i hate to say it, because, most simpsons comics are awesome, but BORING! It has four stories, as well as a load of little ones and only one of the stories would actualy get a high ranking with me, 'A Trip To Simpson Montain'. Basicly, if you have a load of money and just want anything, get this. However if you are surviving on pocket money rations, don't wast your money. Try another simpsons comic or just wait for them on TV!
