I was interested in Photoshop Elements 6 but wondered whether I might end up paying nearly $100 for something that was not a lot better than iPhoto but much less functional than full Photoshop. In actual fact it is a significant advance on iPhoto for image manipulation and does everything I want just as well as the full version would.
The only downside I have encountered is that it is not intuitive to use and the included documentation is poor. To be fair, Adobe do recommend that you use their website Help, but I'd recommend anyone who does not have Photoshop experience to also purchase Barbara Brundage's "Photoshop elements 6 for Mac The Missing Manual". This saved me going crazy in the learning phase and even now that I am comfortable ... Read More:

When I am looking to learn about something and dont want to be blasted by information overload and jargon, I usually look to learn from someone who is an ordinary individual that just had a go and learnt as they went. And this author is one such individual, who learnt from experience, aquaintances and trial and error and general workshops. This book is very accessable from a lay persons perspective written in a friendly and coherent manner. Whats more, she seems to cover everything that is required to day trade including psychological attitude, risk v reward, trends, technical analysis, chartings and any thing else one could require for a good footing in day-trading. Good for the begineer too, but you would have to go slowely to absorb the information.. ... Read More:

I bought Aperture 2 and thought I had got to grips with the basics. I decided to buy this book as a reference for developing my skills. As a reference it is great. However, I have recently been following Richard Harrington's pod casts, one of the authors, and they have moved me on considerably. The book is no longer simply a reference point- it is a road map for discovering the amazing potential of this incredible software.
Own a PC? Buy a Mac, buy Aperture 2, buy this book.

If you have the D300 this book will enable you to get the most out of it.
It goes into detail with every menu and button, in an easy to understand style.I have read others that are little better than the instruction manual.
Its easily a 5 star rating.

I see a lot of good reviews for this book but I have to say I found it difficult to locate the parts which described how to design good OO.
It's very messily put together, and repeats itself a great deal telling you about UML and what OO is. I think I must have read that description about fifty times!
Personally I will be looking for another book to teach me good OO, as this one failed to provide the answers and teachings I was looking for.

This book is not for the beginner, but if you want to improve your editing skills I don't think you will find better. The included DVD is worth the money on its own. Thoroughly recommended.

I have been pretty much glued to this book ever since getting it. I consider myself a computer geek, but PSE6 was quite new to me, and I have found the book invaluable in helping me find my way round the software and process my photos. It's easy to follow, well laid out, and quite well written (if somewhat American), and has very practical advice and tips. My husband, who is most definitely NOT a computer geek, has also been following and using it and quite happily. I mostly dip in an out for specific advice, but having just used it to successfully calibrate my monitor / download a printer profile / get a decent print (hurrah!), I am planning to read it cover to cover. In fact I may have to buy a second copy because I now have to fight my husband for it. Even ... Read More:
