I've read many Lynda La Plante books and there hasn't been one that I haven't thought was a good read - until now. Oh dear, I found Clean Cut to be long-winded and quite boring. I really struggled to finish reading it. Not written in her usual style at all!

I ran out of Michael Connelly and Lee Child novels to read, which is how I came upon the Elvis Cole novels. I did not start at the beginning but once I read one book I was hooked. I ordered the entire series from Amazon and read them all in 3 months. I am an avid reader and have read everything available by my 3 favourite novelists. I am desperately waiting for the new books.
I would highly recommend the Harry Bosch and Jack Reacher series if you have nothing to read, you wont be disappointed.
Lieutenant Charles Acland has returned from Iraq with severe head and face injuries and a predilection for sudden rages particularly against women. Three men are killed in London and Acland seems implicated. Walter's compelling exploration of estrangement and psychological chaos owes much to the presence of one of her best characters ever, Jackson, the weight lifting locum G.P. who moonlights as a bouncer at her girlfriend's pub and befriends Acland when he precipates an unnecessary brawl. A monumental `saviour' of near mythic competence, Jackson ironically begins to question Acland's social isolation and sexual anxiety. `He squinted up at her. From the floor she looked like a mountain of white muscle, with calves, thighs, shoulders and neck bulging ... Read More:

It was a really good read and kept me interested but you felt the ending was too quickly wrapped up. The serial killer who thought of everything didn't have a paasword on the home computer that contained incriminating evidence.
Also the fact that the hookers seem to know who the creeper was but wouldn't say anything. That part of the story didn't ring through very well. Other than that it was well worth a read and I will track down her other novels.

This was a fantastic book, I can't wait for her next one. This reminded me of Martina cole's earlier books. Very well written and realistic which I thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to the author on her first book.

Dear Mr Koontz I am 34 yrs old and live in Liverpool. I probably won't live long enough to draw my state pension given that both my Grandparents died well before they hit 70 and the British Government have seen fit to extend the state pension age to 68. My point is I would really love to read Frankenstein 3 before I am dead not alive. Please have pity for I suffer.

Grisham normally has the ability to make me wonder what will happen next. Unfortunately with this book I reached the last chapter not really caring. I don't know much about American Football so a lot of it was "rhubarb-rhubarb" to me - still he kept me holding on to see where it was all going. I think I started losing interest when he ditched the interesting Italian woman for the obvious American college student.
So what happened at the end? I really can't be bothered reading the last chapter...

It's hard to understand how a novelist can deteriorate as much from his early novels as this. This is an adequate pot-boiler of the kind you might pick up at random from the top 10 in any bookshop. But when compared with Goddard's best books, such as Take No Farewell and Into the Blue, it's almost as though it is written by a different author.
Where is all the period detail, character and emotional tension Goddard used to put into his books? Where is even one decent twist? Hayley Winter, to take just one example, is a cardboard character, who alternately acts out some old-man's fantasy and behaves, absurdly, as the greenest of journalists. The twist was ridiculously obvious virtually from the start. Then there is the sloppy, poor writing, with large tracts of dialogue with ... Read More:
