OMG there are not enough words to describe just how brilliant this book is. It moves along with pace and holds your interest all the way through. It moved me to tears several times, and I actually did care about the characters and what became of them, which is something I need to be able to do.

Well researched, believable story and characters, great sex scenes without being contrived, over the top, or too many of them, and plenty of angst. A perfect read.

Well researched, believable story and characters, great sex scenes without being contrived, over the top, or too many of them, and plenty of angst. A perfect read.

Today, the term "Christian books" refers to a wide spectrum of literature. Too often so-called Christian books incorporate worldy philosophies and ideas which ignore or even deny what the bible says, as I've found out painfully after reading this book. I believe Christian books should be in accordance with the scriptures and that the Scriptures alone are the standard for how we live and what we believe or else it will lead you astray into believing some worldly philosophy that is masked in Bible verses that are quoted out of context. This book is a prime example of secular reasoning and psychology instead of the Bible's hopeful teaching on the matter. Finders Keepers

I loved this book from start to finish. I read few books, mostly slowly, but I couldn't put it down. The characters are real, engaging and witty. The heat and depth of attraction leaps out of the pages and is not confined to abstract scenes of passion. The flow of the plot is a piece of art.

I started reading this book and only reluctantly put it down -to go to work, etc- picked it up again, racing towards the ending and when I got there I logged on to the Internet and ordered the rest of Bannon's available novels. Apart from the quality of the writing (evocative, to an extent naive, almost transparent), the story (a young lesbian fleeing to the big city from both heartbreak and an abusive father and falling in love with a straight woman), the characters (flawed, involving, tragic), there was something more, much more.

This is a book which works effectively and simultaneously on more than one level. Written in the late 50's it was aimed at (largely) closeted lesbians. So, why does it strike such a chord in a straight middle-aged ... Read More:
