I only bought this because I'm doing A level ethics but I've thoroughly enjoyed many of the dfferent sections of this book. Its a great insite into the confusing world of ethical matters such as homosexuality, euthansia and abortion. Its very easy to read and if like me your sitting an A level in ethics, its a definite buy. Although it is a little expensive, its the only book you'll really need, as unlike other books it gives views from various ethicists and scholars.

I purchased this book from Amazon marketplace, for less than the cost of the postage, and it was certainly worth the money. I have read several of the books inspired by the God Delusion, and thought this would be a good one largely on the basis of some of the reviews here. Having read it, and then re-read some all of the reviews here, it is hard to believe we are all talking about the same book. I can say with confidence that this one will definately not change anybody's mind, whatever their current stance, and I am fairly confident that the author is not even seriously trying to do this. This book is a useful guide to the basics of energy healing - talking about the human energy field, auras, chakras, the causes of illness, etc, and doing so in a clear, easy to understand way.

When it gets to the energy work, and in particular, the act of healing and seeing, it seems to imply that there is only one way of doing it. But the visions that we each of us see when we heal are different, depending on the individual and the sorts of symbols that have meaning for each one. Indeed, some healers don't see anything at all, but work entirely from intuitive feeling, for example.

This book upset my kids. Not sure that murder, rape, death are really suitable topics for the 7 to 11s. I tried Roald Dahl instead. The BFG is probably the finest book ever written

Reading this wonderful book is like prospecting for gold. The gems are in there somewhere, and when you find them, they really grab your attention and sparkle like the stars. But please be warned you have to search for them first through some very opaque writing.
My own Buddhist practice is not Zen (it is Nichiren buddhism) but I still found some truly invaluable insights about attitude and meditation that I shall bring to my own practice.
For me, though, the book illustrates the old adage that you more you speak about Zen the further away it gets. If you are new to Buddhism and looking for something for starters, I would respectfully suggest this book may put you off because of its obscurity and I would recommend a more accessible Zen ... I know some people have commented that this book came across as obscure and complex, but luckily for me I didn't find that. I found it incredibly helpful and illuminating in what is a deeply complex religion. The key facts that I was able to take away with me have helped to shape my understanding of Islam and what it means to be a Muslim. I thought that it was well written and extremely interesting.

This is an excellent read, the book is simple to follow and gives good techniques, which can be applied on a daily basis. While reading this book I felt connected page after page, as it envelops the reader of mindful thoughts and as we recognise each aspects of our thoughts. We will be able to overcome the negative perspectives, apply the positive thoughts resulting in overall empowerment, peaceful and blissful life.
