This is just about the best non fiction book I have ever read and most certainly the best £4 I ever spent.
There are many thousands of books out there which claim to make us millionaires over night, many of which are sold here on Amazon. But while they quite often have overall 5 star ratings, you never actually see any customer reviews informing us they did indeed become a millionaire over night. What The Richest Man In Babylon does though is instead tell us that through using common sense and a bit of self discipline, we can all become rich over time.
The synopsis is simple, through a series of very brief stories taken from recently excavated scrolls perportedly found in the ancient lost city of Babylon, you are told ... Read More:

This book does make you think in two sense of that phrase: it makes you consider the big questions in life and it also makes you concnetrate hard to understand it in places.
I liked the book when considering it in the round. It think that Hitchens is clearly a very clever individual, well-read and who has considered his subject-matter in some detail and is very familiar with it. But this is part of the downside to the book in that, for someone like me, who is not a philosopher and who does not have a good grounding in the subject matter, it is difficult to follow in places (quite a few places).
I have also read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins recently and on balance I prefer Dawkins book. That said, the two books ... Read More:

Randy Pausch was a remarkable man and this book offers new perspectives on the things he could only touch on within the time constraints of his last lecture. It also reveals different aspects of his complex character. A perhaps uniquely American and Internet age attempt to face death and pass on hard won wisdom. Well worth reading and learning from.

My sister loaned me this book which I just finished reading. As a believer in angels and other spiritual beings I found it an excellent read and would recommend it to friends. Anybody interested in exploring matters of spirit should also read Peacemonger and Free Spirit by Patrick Francis.
It is amazing the variety of reviews of a book and when I read the one dissenting one for this book I wonder were we reading the same book-but such is the variety of human responses and the wonder of being alive-all perspectives are valid

This Cosmic Ordering guide by Stephen Richards is the perfect antidote to modern living. It brilliantly explains the concepts of cosmic ordering so that the reader can easily understand and absorb the importance of communicating with the cosmos to make powerful changes in their life. As well as featuring the author's tale of success against the odds, I always enjoy reading about a person from a humble background succeeding, it is an inspiring read.
Should definitely be read in partnership with Stephen Richard's Cosmic Ordering Connection: Change Your Life Within Minutes! Together they are a powerful union for developing change. Lovely.

I personally found this book very helpful and enjoyed reading it. It is nice to be able to see things from a positive perspective and this book helps you to do that. Although it is probably worth mentioning that none of the wonderful ideas in this book will work without alott of effort and self discipline. It covers attitude and philosophy and does not include any real techniques or methods, but there are other books that do, and i find this book to compliment them well.
If you have a problem with the idea of trying to be a better person and the effort that it involves, then you may not find this book useful.
This book is mostly just words.(no pun intended)
Although if you consider the harm that cruel words can do, then surely kind words can help ... Read More:

Dr. Gary Chapman has written a very practical book here that unlocks the doors to understanding the needs of your partner. Many books have been written on the subject, but I feel Dr. Chapman approaches these issues on understanding the opposite sex from a new and fresh perspective.
The key to successful relationships of any kind is understanding the other person better, and helping them to learn how to understand you and your ways.
I recommend this book to anyone wishing to enhance their personal relationships and further enrich their lives. A good book for everyone's bookshelf.

This is a thick tomb, not so portable as a set of keys but much more portable than a well stocked library. - what you need to look up the writings of the authors mentioned in this book. This book is a tourist guide to intellectual places you have never considered visiting, or wanted to but didn't know where to start.
I think this book may have been more readable to the non English Lit. graduate had the contents been presented from the most recent to the least. It takes effort to read the early entries and to understand them.
Stick with it nonetheless your brain may ache from the effort but it will be fitter because of it.

I bought this book about 2 years ago. It has helped me on many occasions when my spirits have been low and lifted them. Taught me there is hope and it can be of your own making.
I have also found it of use when explaining things to my teenage daughters.
I highly recommend it. It's very American, but if we Brits can get over that it makes interesting reading.

I bought this book without realising what a cult Christian book it had been, based on an Amazon recommendation. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. Somehow Rob Bell manages to write some very profound ideas in a light easy to read format. What he says makes incredible sense, but he challenges us all to question both what he writes and what is taught to us as 'God's word'. The basis for this is not that he doubts the Bible, but that firstly since we always read a translation there is a degree of human interpretation, and secondly anybody teaching from the Bible brings their own personal interpretation, and so can never say that they are teaching God's word.
For those frustrated by the black and white simplicity of today's conservative evangelical Christianity, this book will ... Read More:
