Nice book with lots of photos. Unfortunately the much of the information with regard to photos did not mention the breed of birds shown. I would have liked to have more detail in the captions. Some of the specific breeds mentioned had no photo at all. I wasn't interested in the chapter on crafts.
My husband preferred this book to "The Right Way to Keep Chickens" by Virginia Shirt because it was easier to absorb and photo's are much better than drawings. He said it was a good book, I am hard to please!

I disagree with Ozzy's review, alas. Of all the textbooks I have used with (hundereds of) students, they almost unanimously consider this the best. It's far from perfect, but fills in many of the gaps left by more popular texts such as the Heinemann series (it also has far fewer mistakes and typos than the Heinemann books). The text is thorough and well spaced on the page, and the examples are generally well chosen. It might be nice to have a third colour in the text (red, perhaps, for the 2nd edition...?), but this is really a minor quibble.
I work on a 'rule of three' when teaching, meaning you generally need three textbooks for any given subject. We bounce between this and the Heinemann (which complement each other well) and then ... Read More:

Before buying this book I attempted the online practice test (and failed!) after going through the book it highlighted areas I needed to work on. The book also provides example questions which are very similar to the test questions. I would not have passed first time without this book.

this is a great book, so much useful information in there. in my opinion theres already enough good reviews to convince one to buy it, so theres not really much to add.
although its important to know, this doesn't tell you practical skills, 'how-to's like roofing, plumbing etc. its more about prices of materials verses labour, explains the ins and outs of employing an architect to design for you, explains how to deal with building regulations, that kind of thing.
VERY useful

It is a good book, but you need to watch the sections on learning styles. Read the LSDA reports before you base your ideas around any of the contentious stuff.

Having read most of Yalom's other books, I expected this to be an insightful and instructive read. And so it proved. Yalom's ten 'cases' are recounted with gentleness, caring and consideration. The author does not cast himself in the role of the psychiatrist-God who has all the answers but as a person with likes and dislikes, with successes and failures, someone whose best intentions at times backfire and who can hit the spot with some of his patients through sheer accident. He treats his patients with consideration and respect without romanticizing the despair and anxiety he faces in his work. The book offers an interesting counter-part to Freud's classic case studies, which evoked the detective story genre as the psychoanalyst seeks to put together the clues offered him/her ... Read More:

A good resource for anyone who struggles with planning for literacy. It has good medium and short term planning and plenty of resources on the CD. Great for those classrooms with interactive white boards. However, it is not a book you could just pick up and use and needs adapting to fit into a real day-to-day classroom. Despite this, I would still happily recommend.

The clear pictures and easy to follow step by step guides were extremely helpful when it came to taking my C&G 2330 Level 3 practical exams. The section on completion of test certificates was particularly good, putting everything into plain language.
I would recommend this book to any trainee electrician.
