While the topic of this book is interesting and the authors do well in presenting each type of analysis / data fallacy with interesting examples anyone who can remember any maths from school should find this very basic and really not worth their time.

'Salt and Vinegar', as this book has affectionately come to be know, has become something of a bible to a 3rd year med student. It has most of the information you'd need for the specialty rotations.
When compared to the OHCM, however, improvements to the layout of some of the text needs improving.
Also, the 'insights' given in this book- quotes from books, ethical tangents, are all too often not insightful at all. They're long and not always optional reading, as they're woven into the essential reading.

There's no doubt that this very good solution to improve your knowledge in histology. The text is simple, clear and doesn't go too much in details. The pictures are amazingly clear but at many places there coud have been better labels. This book presumes, especially in later chapters, that you know the previous stuff well, so many things that are mentioned in text are not indicated in pictures and you have to find them yourself.

We were told by our university that this was a highly recommened book, and they weren't wrong. If you are studying Early Years and want a book that covers services, policy, practice and diversity within Early Years then this is a good book to start with. Easy to read, you'll probably find what you are looking for.

Both my flatmate and I purchased this book for our criminology course. As a complete newbe to the subject I found this book well written with plenty of clear examples. My flatmate, who took A- level sociology, again found it usful as the information provided goes into great detail, instead of just including the basics. Basically this is a great book whether you are clueless like me or want to build up a greater understanding of crime in society.

Before buying this book I attempted the online practice test (and failed!) after going through the book it highlighted areas I needed to work on. The book also provides example questions which are very similar to the test questions. I would not have passed first time without this book.

With over 450,000 copies sold, this book is arguably the best book of its kind. What's it useful for? Mainly to help the reader (from the weekend athlete to the athletic trainer to the professional bodybuilder) figure out what exercises work what muscles.
It's neatly divided up into sections (arms, shoulders, chest, back, etc.), so all you really have to do is flip to one of these sections and it will have detailed pictures of various exercises and exactly which muscles are involved.
A great reference to keep have around, I give it five stars easy. Readers who lift weights regularly might also be interested Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff to avoid shoulder problems a lot of lifters eventually get.

This book is core reading for my course and has been an invaluable guide. It covers everything you need to know from how children learn language to how to be successful at assessment. It includes useful research summaries, interesting practical tasks all of which help develop understanding. There are lots of 'classroom stories' where real examples are used to illuminate theory. I found these to be particuarly useful as they demonstrate how to apply abstract theory to practice. As I am training to be a teacher not at educational theorist this connection is vital. This is a easy-to-understand, practical text which, along with it's sister book 'Primary English - Knowledge and Understanding', will fully prepare you for QTS. My advice is: buy it ... Read More:

I bought this title as I already had the Literacy version which I loved. I wasn't as happy with the numeracy version, I felt it was not as easy to dip in to & hence why it got 4 stars instead of 5. Saying that it is till a good, fun numeracy book with plenty of creative ideas. In my opinion many of the ideas are more suitable for children in year 5 & 6, but the priciples can be applied to any year group. Worth the money though if you just want to 'pep' up your numeracy lessons.
