Ihave used John Whitfield's Guides for 20 years, its the only one for me.
I always keep one in the tool box and one in the office, As it say's on the back cover I don't leave home without it.

This book is a must have for all medical students entering their clinical years. Read it early! I only discovered the gems contained within this book when my OSCE's were approaching as it had been collecting dust on the shelf and I was kicking myself that I hadn't read it earlier. Plenty of pictures and illustrations to clarify the procedures.

A standard work often provided in starter kits and it covers the basics in a simple easy to read fashion. Katie Thear is an experienced keeper and she includes some useful tips she's picked up from her own experiences. However I find the subject poorly researched and the information rather sketchy in places and lacking in consistency. It's rather like she has written it just from her own knowledge and experiences only. Some areas she dwells on in uneccessary detail for beginners needs while others which need a more detailed explaination are just skimmed over. There's also some uneccessary padding with brief chapters on showing and breeding which aren't of much interest to beginners and don't contain enough detail to enable anyone to get involved ... This book is the best book to sharpen your calculation skills. Very easy to understand calculations with given examples and formulas. Practicing the exercises in different sections that include a review of basic calculations, dosage of oral medications, drug dosage for injection, intravenous infusion, paediatric dosages and summary exercises with the answers. I recommend this book for all who are involved in drug calculations.It is execellent+++++.

This is a brilliant book for those studying yoga. It has plenty of detail which would come in handy during study.If you need help on joint movements and muscles being used during postures the this is the book you need to buy- very clear, interesting and brilliantly illustrated.

I fully agree about the quality of this book's content. It is also a quality paperback and therefore quite heavy: don't buy it from the sort of seller who uses flimsy jiffy bags if you like your books in good condition!

I am a beginner when it comes to crystals and this book was a fantastic introduction for me, although I don't think it would be out of place in the expert's collection either.

It is very clear and well set out with large colourful photos of each crystal. The crystals are in alphabetical order listing their healing attributes and the position of use. From what I could tell there seems to be a very wide collection of well known and rarer crystals listed.

At the start of the book there is a section on crystal formation and crystal healing. The shapes of the crystals and the effect that it has on their healing properties is written about at the back of the book. "This writing style is accessible and succint"-a blatent lie on the back cover. This book is about as accessible as Mars and as succint as the whole Britannica encyclopedia collection in Latin.
There is no consistency to the format. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you may learn something as this book is more likely to confuse you of the knowledge you already may have. Half of the management sections are missing or hidden in the depths of unnecessary "illustrations and figures". By the way, writing big blocks of prose in a coloured box does not make it an illustration. When you do find management sections they say things like..."use anti-staphylococcal drugs to treat staphylococcal infections". Useful.

no politition could read this book and stay in office with 'business as usual' without being in total denial. not sensational in it's presentation, but leaves little to the imagination. Surely we've had it, haven't we? Don't leave too much money to your children - it will be of little use.
