Have read all four of the Shardlake series, all brilliant. I am now having withdrawal. Sansom has you totally engrossed, you can picture the scene, a detailed version of the violent times of Henry V111. I cannot find a single fault. Will there be anymore, please.
If you like historical whodunnits, these are for you, difficult to put down, extremely well written, who needs television.

Rowling has proved herself yet again to be a master of fantasy fiction in the second installment of the Hary Potter series. The characterisations initially developed in the 'Philosopher's Stone' are considered in depth by the author, allowing presumptions to be overturned, and the impossible to be considered. From the start of this work, adventure and excitement become codewords, allowing readers of any age to engage with the well written literature. Much recommended.

I bought this at the airport whe our plane was late, and my little girl - nearly 2 - loved it. She asked for the stories again and again all week. Yes, they are for a younger age group than the "real" C and L books and are short board book stories but have enough character and charm to be enjoyed, probably most by children under 2 and a half. Tiny and handy to fit in the luggage too!

Anyone who thought that Frankenstein was the tall, slow, bolt-headed monster from the films will be very surprised by this gothic/horror story.
But, hopefully, like me, you will be pleasantly surprised. The story is about a young scientist named Frankenstein who becomes interested in creating life. He attempts to make a man out of acquired body parts. The result is a large, disfigured man. This "monster" is actually a sensitive and real human being. It is only after rejection by his creator that he starts to become more of a monster figure. 'Am I to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me? I, the miserable and the abandoned, am an abortion, to be spurned, and kicked, and trampled on.' This is the thought process that comes ... Read More:
I dont read books much, but then when i went to the library the librarian pointed this book out to me, so i took it home and started reading. I loved the first half of it, where Arthur Hobhouse's life story is told,he is evacuated to austrailia with his lucky key given to him by his sister Kitty, where he lives the rest of his life. However the second half isn't as good although it is interesting to find out what happenes to Allie (Arthurs Daughter) on her long voyage to find her Fathers long lost sister Kitty,it still has some tension to keep you interested but it can get a bit boring. Overall it is one of the best books i've ever read, its just a little bit of a let down on the second half but, i still reccomend it to everyone ... Read More:

I have read all three of the previous titles in thsi set and while th others were intense and gripping, I found this one to be weak in comparison. It seems to end a brillaint saga on poor note considering teh brilliance of the authors other published work. To anyone interested in teh saga of Caesar by all means read the others they are brilliant

Having read and delighted in The Book Thief, I thought that I would give I am the Messenger a go. I was in Oz at the time and so the setting was perfect. It truly is a read in one sitting book. It may have been written for young adults but is a book that all can take from.

I picked this book up while on tour and read it within a couple of weeks. At first I thought it had potential with the prologue showing the Civil war and focusing on one of the communist soldiers Bernie and then the air raids on London and how the people of London coped with this. However once the character goes to Madrid the plot slows right down and then doesn't seem to pick up again until the end and the plot twist, which I won't ruin for you.
I think the book is worth a read just for the historical value. It does show how bad the civil war was in Spain and if like me you don't know much about that part of history it does explain a lot.
By far not the best book I have read but still enjoyable
