Recently I went to see "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" in the cinema, but I hate seeing films I haven't read the book of. I had seen the trailer and thought it looked absolutly awesome! I quickly ordered the book from Amazon, and could not put it down! Honestly, I picked it up at 4 and did not stop reading until 8!! It is one of the best books in the world, and can only be out done in humour by the legend of Bridget Jones. It is fabulous book about very realistic problems faced by your average teenager, yet it isn't whingy or boring or moany, just hilarious and honest!! It doesn't blow anything out of proportions, like so much chick-lit does. Basically it is just fabulous!!

I love Julia Donaldson's books because they entertain the adult as well as the child. They hold us spellbound on the settee as we revel in the rhymes and sway with the rhythms. My five year old boy loves Tyrannosauruses and my 4 year old girl likes the families of dinosaurs and the tiny egg-carrying Compognathus. Even when I'm tired, I feel better after reading one of JD's masterpieces aloud, and the little ones go to bed content because there's always a happy ending.

This book is based on same premise as the successful Aliens love underpants from the same author/illustrator duo, that small children will find the incongruity between everyday pants and imaginary creatures wearing them very funny, and of course they do. But whereas many follow up books are more of the same, this has a very different story which, in my opinion, is the stronger of the two (though no less silly).
Bright amusing illustrations of dinosaurs dressed in flamboyant and colourful pants accompany decent rhyming verse:
"Triceratops was happy, wearing pants on every horn,
Til Styracosaurus snatched them, and they ended up all torn."
Pants are so prized that squabbles erupt and it's dinosaur underwear anarchy as ... Read More:

Georgia Nicoleson is a distraught teenager, crushed by her love loss. Although, her friends are supporting and it's not long before she meets a new sex god. Georgia argues a lot with her best friend Jas, but she needs her friends to escape the madness of her house. Her family are interfering and an embarrassment to her.
The main character is Georgia Nicoleson. I sympathise for her, because she has quite a troubled life. She finds her family highly embarrassing and she doesn't like her friends to see them at all. She has a cat called Angus, whom is quite like a human to them, and the way that his actions are described is quite human like. Georgia's best friend, Jas, is mentioned frequently throughout and her character is ambitious ... Read More:

I bought this several months ago for my little boy, who is now 16 months old. Although he loves his books, bringing me a book to read to him several times during the day, this has never been one of his favourites. Despite that, this is the only "lift-the-flap" book that he has managed to tear off one of the flaps from (and he has several of these books). I guess that babies have different tastes in books (just like adults) but I think it could have been made a lot sturdier. For example, we have had no problems with "Dear Zoo" which has been read a lot more times.

This is an absolutely brilliant picture book - a crime to solve and illustrations that excite and draw in the child reader.
The story line is that, in a nutshell, branches are going missing from trees in the forest and the animals set about working out who has taken them. Meanwhile, we see bear with an axe, a saw, a pile of paper, and getting cross with an unsuccessful paper aeroplane. Can we, the readers, work out what is going on in the woods before the animals do?
The animals identify bear as the culprit and he's taken to the police station and then questioned in court where we learn why he has been taking the branches. These are very grown-up concepts and Jeffers has successfully kept the `criminal procedures' both clear and simple, perfect ... Read More:

...and is undoubtably well-described, but the actual storyline wasn't quite as exciting as everyone said it would be. Still, I will be reading the next one!
