My little girl (age 4) loves cats and we borrowed this book from the library and fell in love with it. Really moving story about a stray cat throughout the seasons in a seaside town. Lovely christmassy ending. Brings tears to my eyes(happy ones). Was a bit shocked at use of word "damned" though. (Cat calls a dog "that damned dog").You could always edit that when reading aloud though!

I introduced my daughter to this book a month ago when she was 9 months old, and it is by far her favourite book. She crawls over to it and lobs other books out of the way to get to it, and then happily sits turning the pages and opening and closing the flaps, she can't get enough of it no matter what time of day it is, although we also read it every night before bed as well. We've had to buy a second copy as I know she's going to tear something soon, but to date it has withstood her vigorous opening/closing/page turning! I would highly recommend it.

We had loads of fun with our kids reading this one, but not just at home. They loved it so much they had both memorised it in no time and would love reciting it if ever we went on walks, especially through woods and streams.

In response to that 'rubbish' review by J.S Meins.
What a shocking review of a beautiful book! I could not disagree with this person's point of view more and urge those of you with a desire to leave beautiful books in the memories of your children..buy it! I fondly remember this book being read to me when I was a small child, and now as a 33 and a half year old, I was over the moon to rediscover it so I can buy it for my son. My memories of this book and story are of being intoxicated by the pictures of lush tropical forest pushing up through tarmac, breaking up roads and bursting with exotic flowers of vivid colours turning the mess left by the human race back into the utopia it was before we spolit it all. A subject even more poinient in todays ... Read More:

My son adores Mr Man and Little Miss books. The anniversary books are a very welcome addition to the collection. Written and illustrated by the author's son, they preserve the spirit, wit and even language of the older books, but with some funny twists and new storylines that keep the kids wondering. The "magic series" of stories involving dragons, knights, princesses, witches, mermaids and other magical creatures is a MUST for all fans.

I love this book and all the other ones in this series because the illustrations are so great, very sweet, but incredibly bright and colourful at the same time, they really catch my babies' attention. They are also hardcover which is great for younger children because they cant tear (or eat) the pages and they can start to try and turn the pages themselves rather than have to sit there and be good in case the book gets all torn!

We took this book out of the library and my son has insisted on reading it every evening since then. He is almost 6 years old and it is simple enough for him to read it himself (echoing part of the story where Lily realises she can "read it herself"), but he also likes me to read it to him. I've enjoyed it too as it flows well, the story is a bit different and Blue Kangaroo is a charming fellow. I will probably buy a copy to keep!

written from a young fox-cub's point of view.
Large paperback with 32 high quality, shiny pages in 2-page spread format, with text on one page.
Superb illustrations throughout.
From the back cover:-
`The young fox cubs have rattling, roaring whirlwinds racing past their den by the railway tracks.
Each evening these trains bring a kind old man who feeds them.
But then a gang of wild man-cubs throw snowballs and snatch the old man's bag.......'
