As I was reading this book I got the impression it was written for children, but it would have been an insult to even a young child.
There was no depth to the characters for you to feel sympathy for them. It was also not at all related to the real world of refugee's and prejudices.
Sorry, It could have been a really good story,and did get my full attention in the opening chapter, but lost it's way in the telling.

This book is great for planning and observations it helps link these together and is great for all early years settings. I am a childminder and found it a very useful tool to support the new EYFS.

What if you were transported back in time? Back to 1940s London, during the blitz?
Well that's exactly what happens to unsuspecting George Wetherall when a school trip to Eden Camp (a Second World War museum) slips him sixty two years in to the past!
However the reality of war-time London is nothing like George imagined. It's frightening, harsh and bloody, and not at all glamorous.
Swindells has produced a first class time-travel story, here, which grips from the beginning and doesn't let go until the very last page. It's hugely entertaining, both full of adventure and some quite poignant moments. And like all good books, there's a neat little twist to the tale.

Be prepared for one of the most exciting page-turning reads you'll ever encounter. This book will grip you from the first page and not let you go until the end. It's the longest of the four Sally Lockhart books, but you won't notice the length as the plot just keeps going and thickening all the time.

As if that wasn't enough, in between the excitement there's also a wealth of incidental detail about social conditions in Victorian England, and especially about the rights (or lack thereof) of women.

Later on in this magnificent story Mom finds a new love, and the whole family change there names to: Kendall, Lola Rose and Victoria Luck. It all becomes terrifing when Victoria is diagnoised with cancer and in a trance she telephones her husband and tells him exactly where she is. It lists all the poems and annotates them with critical information you can use for your aqa a english language essays telling you all the key themes, feelings and attitudes towards the poem and lanuage used. Then if thats not enough it gives you sample essays by top class students on titles that regualarly come up in the exams. At the end of the book it gives you the common themes of all the poems allowing you to compare each poem in the essay. If your teacher doesnt know their stuff or your struggling to remember the class work this will explain each poem and help you get a good grade in your gcse. "I very much doubt i would have passed my gcse without it." I really recommend you buy it!
