This is great for any time of the year but more so when you need a quick start to a lesson or a change during a lesson. I use it sometimes as a pre-starter for the times when pupils aren't arriving all at the same time (after break or lunch). I also use it when I announce to the class "let's have a change as you are working extremely hard" little do they know I planned this and have already identified the activity!
I have taught English in a 'good' school, a school where some pupils are very weak and more recently in a special school for EBD. It gets used in all of them!

Initially I did not like these books at all. The flaps are tiny and fragile - very easy for little people to pull off without even meaning to. I was not impressed with the way that some of the flaps only have writing underneath, for example ' one, well done'. However, my daughter loves these books and is quite obsessed. She also loves the Dr Seuss collection. Both sets are perfect for little hands (she is 1). She spends as much time putting them in and out of their box as she does reading them. A positive about the Noddy books are the bright pictures. I voted a four because they have made my daughter happy and made her love books even more.

This is an excellent book. I came across it in my school when it was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award a few years ago. The story of how the animals cope with the death of Fox is gently told and would be good for all children to read, but especially those who have lost a loved one. The illustrations are beautiful and the story's ending is uplifting, although I must confess that I cannot read it or tell anyone about it without crying (a little embarrassing infront of your pupils, but there you go). Highly recommended, but if you are soppy like me buy a pack of tissues with it.

I bought this for my 18 month old after having a play in a bookshop and she really loves it! It is a big chunky book and on every third page there is a different track on which you set a little wind up train off to race around it. It works amazingly well! Each track is nicely illustrated with lots of interesting things to point at along the way. There are 3 tracks in total. I haven't even read her the interspersed stories yet as she only wants me to set the train off over and over again! I suspect that eventually the train will break or get lost but I think we have already had our moneys worth! Great fun!

I purchased this book over a year ago and have been reading it to my daughter while encouraging her to use her potty on a regular basis since then. She absolutely loves it and if i am having trouble convincing her to sit on the pot then this book always helps convince her. Unfortunately it has not helped to speed up the training process as she has just turned 3 and is still holding in her wee and poo until she is back in knickers or her nappy. If i leave her bare she eventually just wees or poos on the floor. This book has made it easy for me to explain what to do and my daughter loves repeating bits back to me and will quite happily sit and look at the pictures on her own. I guess she will do it when she is ready and not before ;o)

My 10 month old daughter loves this book. It's got lots of different fabrics to feel and the snowflakes on each page are reflective too. Bright, bold pictures seem to amuse her. I would definitely recommend this book.

On the surface One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, the third Beginner Book that Dr. Suss (Ted Geisel) wrote, might appear to be a book of merely counting, colours, opposites and other concepts. The book revolves around the motto of "funny things are everywhere", and the fish in different guises are but the welcome mat to this wild, weird world. The creatures and crazy situations in the book (Yink, Yop, Ying, Gack, Zans, etc) are designed to encourage readers to embrace the world in all its quirkiness and diversity, and there are small sentiments peppered throughout the book such as "These things are fun, and fun is good" and "If you wish to make a wish". This book may be plotless, but the theme of funny things and embracing the world help to ... Read More:

My son really enjoyed this book. It captured his imagination and we have had lots of interesting chats about different countries and cultures around the world. Excellent for participation and goes really well with associated books on flags and geography.
