Awww, this manga is so cute and girly it's almost ridiculous! X3 Cute characters, cute storyline (except in later volumes it takes a bit of a darker turn) and REALLY cute art! I also like how each of the girl's has traits from a certain endangered animals e.g. Ichigo and the Iriomote wildcat.

If you like shojo or the supergirl kind of manga like Sailor Moon, you will really enjoy this! <3

I've positive memories of the Asterix series - which I raced through as a wee kid - and after having flicked through the modern printing of this adventure, having bought it for someone else, I can honestly say this is an ideal way to get reluctant kids started on reading if my own experience is anything to go by. You might also want to consider buying it for learners of English. There's abundant colour on each page, and the visual storyline will in most cases keep kids positively distracted. The print quality of the modern edition is better than what I remember it to be, which at times could leave a powdery feel across your fingers. I'm really thinking of the hardback compendiums here, but there are no problems with the current print run.

In 1942 the continent of Europe was totally embroiled in World War II, which may well explain why Herge offers up the most fanciful of all of the adventures of Tintin. In fact, nothing else comes as close to "The Shooting Star," which begins with the world about to end because of a collision with a giant come and ends with Tintin dealing with giant mushrooms on an island in the middle of the ocean. In between there is a race to find a meteorite that contains a new element of great scientific importance (another case of Herge's remarkable premonitions based on his meticulous research no doubt).

Tintin is aided and abetted in this adventure by Captain Haddock, who we first met in the previous tale, "The Crab with the Golden Claws." But I must say ... Read More:

With the glut of Doctor Who related merchandise that fills the shelves these days there are inevitably high and low points. Never mind the lows though, this is a definite high! Apart from the dodgy sketch of Rose on the front cover this is a high quality offering from Panini books and deserves the positive reviews given here. The only possible criticism is the artwork but the contents and layout are top drawer. Story-wise, highlights are Mark Gatiss' 'Cuckoo Spit', the tale of a lonely boy whose life is shaken-up by The Doctor and Rose and 'Gravestone House', a creepy mystery which shows that things aren't always what they seem; reminiscent of that master of teenage fiction, Robert Westall. Ok after reading the first UXM i was kinda let down by this one i know theyre all seperate storys but this volume really is kinda boring, it introduces nightcrawler, juggernaught and rogue and does dulge into worlverines past but any xmen fan already knows it so its not really that much of an impact when u read it. art work is fantastic though and once again the story is funny yet serious. if your new to ultimate x men and want to see what its like buy the tommorrow people otherwise if your a collector then i dont know why your reading this and havnt bought it yet.... go on.... buy buy!

Red Rackham's Treasure (The Adventures of Tintin)

If like me you're desperate to get your children to read more then The adventures of Tin-Tin are a good way to do this. My son's 11 and is a big fan. There's a huge base of these great books and I would thoroughly recommend them. They are totally innocuous, so there's no worries about inappropriate language or situations, not that I'm being unrealistic as 5 mins on an xbox360 seems to give children more exposure to societies less pleasant side than anyone really needs, but strangely enough children seem to enjoy a simplistic fantasy story of one boy and his dog.
