When a young child becomes frustrated, uncontrolled rage often follows. How can a parent help? I suggest reading this book together and discussing it while your child is in a good mood.

When Sophie Gets Angry was a Caldecott honoree for its remarkable illustrations in 2000. These illustrations combine the styles of Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Matisse in a vivid, bright, and effective way.

The book uses the metaphor of a "volcano, ready to explode" very effectively. Geologists would point out that a volcano without vents will explode as the water in the cone turns to steam with no place to go. With vents, all you get is a cloud of steam and gentle lava flows. Once Upon a Potty - Boy

Apart from the Americanisms (diaper) and the fact the illustration does show an old fashioned 'po' as opposed to a potty - this book is fabulous. One read of it and my very resistant son was sitting on the potty with his clothes on which no amount of bribery had encouraged him to do before, a day later and another read of the book and he was sitting on the potty with no nappy on and understanding what he was supposed to do - still waiting for him to do it now but an excellent start after only 48 hours of receiving the book!

This book is by no means a disaster, but our baby found it much less interesting than other options, even when very young. The dots and spots books are much more engaging in our experience.

This book had a good title but was weak on the inside - it could have been fun, cute, more informative &/or exciting but was not, I & my 2 year old son thought the same.

It was amarican ('diapers' & 'Mom')in case English was required.

We love the Klutz books and kits (we being myself aged 35 and my 10 year old daughter). Once again they have come up with a simple but entertaining package for young and old alike, to create with.
In this set you get a booklet with a step by step example of 'how to do' on a page and space to one side for you to have a go yourself. Also included are a black felt pen and an inkpad. You create animals using your thumb or finger prints and the felt pen. These kits are great for on car/plane or train journeys and are compact for you to take along almost anywhere. Keep one in your handbag and you'll never be short of something to entertain kids with.

The Mog Collection (Books & Audio CD)

The Mog stories are the ones my son, now age 14 still looks back on as his favorites, They are heart warming and very funny, infact they have moved us to tears of laughter, but are also very thought provoking too, I think the "Painfull" review is lacking in imagination, where children certainly are not. The books portray a very "together" family, that care for Mog, Fantastic set, I have just bought 2 more for sets for presents. Try Mog's Christmas if you can find it, ours is a very old and well used copy that has been handed down from family members !
