MR HAPPY IS PROBABLY THE BEST KNOWN OF THE MR MEN.HIS BRIGHT COLOUR AND HUGE SMILE ARE VERY APPEALING , HE EVEN MANAGES TO CHEER UP MR MISERABLE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, THIS BOOK IS AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!

Mr Gumpy's Outing

I like this book because Granny always reads it to us. My Gumpy takes a lot of animals in a boat and they all fall in the water. I fell in the water a lot today because me and Jack went down my slide into the paddling pool. It was funny.

Once Upon a Potty - Girl

I purchased this book over a year ago and have been reading it to my daughter while encouraging her to use her potty on a regular basis since then. She absolutely loves it and if i am having trouble convincing her to sit on the pot then this book always helps convince her. Unfortunately it has not helped to speed up the training process as she has just turned 3 and is still holding in her wee and poo until she is back in knickers or her nappy. If i leave her bare she eventually just wees or poos on the floor. This book has made it easy for me to explain what to do and my daughter loves repeating bits back to me and will quite happily sit and look at the pictures on her own. I guess she will do it when she is ready and not before ;o)

This book came out too late for me to read it to my children. Oh well, I suppose that's what grandchildren are for. Actually, I just like reading it to myself, and feasting my eyes on all of those marvellous illustrations. I love the intense colours and the portrayal of movement, especially in the storm pictures with all of those sensuous curves. The cat Mowzer and her man Tom are depicted with great warmth and humouor. The story on its own (I won't tell you the plot) would be moving enough, but its coupling with such delicious artwork makes this book near purrfect.

It is Charlie's birthday, and he's having his friends round for a monster party. As usual Lola gets a bit carried away with her enthusiasm and tries to make everything a little too pink for Charlie's liking.

This story has lovely wit and humour with charming illustrations and a real knowledge of what it is to have a precocious younger sibling. Charlie's patience is fantastic, and Lola's bustling insistence on being involved with absolutely everything and covering everything in lashings of pink icing will strike a chord with anyone who has ever been saddled with a small brother or sister to cart about.

My three children all love Charlie and Lola. My oldest sympathises with Charlie, my middle one is Lola to a 't' and ... Read More:

I have loved Kipper since the day he was born, and when I saw the opportunity to own this great collection of four stories, I just had to have him! This book is lovely - as are all of the series. Shirley Hughes writes beautifully. I loved these books as a young child and my children enjoy them now.
I do have one warning though - watch out for small children trying this out themselves. My little boy did after we read this story, locking himself, his little sister and his newborn brother inside with him! Luckily for us these is a spare key - make sure you have one available before reading this story to your kids..... ;)
