If splitting up can be made child friendly, then this book probably does it. But if things turn sour, then the Dad will be better off reading FAMILY COURT HELL.

This is a great picture book about a witch's magical birthday party. First Winnie gets ready for the celebration and my children love the way Winnie's invitations all fly out of the window into the moonlit night in a flurry of multi-coloured stars. All children love parties and the illustrations of the delights laid out for the party guests, the red and yellow bunting, the stripey marquee and the maze are particularly enticing. Winnie's relations are funny, arriving with a range of presents including a magic carpet, and then playing games like musical broomsticks. The finale of the party, and the book too, is the magnificent birthday cake, a multi-tiered colourful cake of such fantastic dimensions my children's eyes grow wider than I thought possible. ... As a child, I was enchanted by this wonderful book. Now I have my own children, I am happy to be able to read it to them and they also love it. A selfish giant won't let any children play in his garden, until he meets a very special little boy.
Ultimately this is a Christian tale of love, forgiveness and redemption. It is very moving and the illustrations in this edition are beautiful. This is a story that will live on in your mind long after you have turned the last page.

My eldest son (now aged 7) loves this book. The story is good and the illustrations superb. It is a fascinating tour around London and at an appropriate level for children. If you are going up to London with your child, then read this book first - its shows them all the sights and will make them enjoy it more.

The original Pants is one of my kids favourite books and never fails to get a laugh. This is more of the same, and no worse for it. The illustrations by the superb Nick Sharratt, are fantastic and the cheeky rhymes by Giles Andreae are funny, memorable and just rude enough to make small children very happy indeed. We love it. May there be many more pants to come.

Meet Spot and his father, Sam, as they go to the farm to look for baby animals. You can learn some names of baby farm animals like, Lambs, which are baby sheep, Foals, which are baby horses and Calves, which are baby cows. But none of those little animals are at the farm: only their parents are - which baby animals are there? Find out in this great book...
Eric Hill, the author of this book, has become very well known for his `Spot' series which were started in the early 1980's. Spot is also known as `the World's Favourite Puppy' as he is an all time favourite Pre School character and probably will forever be.
I would rate this book 7/10 although it is not very suitable for me but more appropriate for children aged 3 - 7. It has flaps to open ... Read More:

I love all 3 of these adventures, and always have. The Secret of the Unicorn is one of the very best of all the Tintin books. It does seem a little strange to include it in this volume without its sequel, Red Rackham's treasure (I suspect this is to encourage you to buy Volume 4!) All 3 adventures are classic Tintin, with suberb illustrations, exotic locations and exciting storylines. The colouful Captain Haddock is a very welcome addition to the cast. This collection is a real joy.

As an avid fan of every Mr Men and Little Miss book ever, this Christmas I was delighted to see that there was another new one out! I really enjoyed this book. As always it was beautifully illustrated and the story was an original take on the Dickens classic.
I am no longer a child but I still find these books as interesting and fun as I did when I was eight years old.
