I have used this book with several Y1 classes and all the children have loved it. The can join in and do actions to the story. I have found to be very successful in helping children who have behaviour problems and is a really good starting point for discussions. Well worth buying!!

Although now in my late twenties, I am still fascinated by Tintin, his friends and his adventures. I do not claim to be a Tintinologist. As a child I used to read the full size editions, however, I prefer this smaller format, as it is compact and there is no loss of detail in the text or illustration. It is also more robust in hardback: how quickly did the paperback get dog-eared when read by an excited child?
Interestingly, there is no contents page. You must therefore "thumb" to find the story you require. I know that is a rather pedantic issue, but there is completeness to consider. This compilation is my favourite of the series, as it contains both "Destination Moon" and "Explorers on the Moon".

This book is lovely - as are all of the series. Shirley Hughes writes beautifully. I loved these books as a young child and my children enjoy them now.
I do have one warning though - watch out for small children trying this out themselves. My little boy did after we read this story, locking himself, his little sister and his newborn brother inside with him! Luckily for us these is a spare key - make sure you have one available before reading this story to your kids..... ;)

This book is lovely - as are all of the series. Shirley Hughes writes beautifully. I loved these books as a young child and my children enjoy them now.

Dirty Bertie

Our Pre-school children love this story and particularly like the combination of the book and the cd together, where they can see and hear what's going on. They all join in the 'chorus' of 'No, Bertie, that's dirty Bertie!' There are peals of laughter from the children when Granny speaks in her haughty taughty voice. A book that children seem to love and it seems to work on the 'noise-picking' front! This teaches children what's is and isn't acceptable in a fun way.

Fix-it Duck (Duck in the Truck)

OK - Fix It Duck is absolutely brilliant, I love it and force my 19-month old son to listen to it again and again and again (luckily, he quite likes it too).

BUT one of the versions on amazon is the American version - the differences are small but I found them very annoying ("'A flat,' says Duck"/ "he forgot to turn his faucet off!"). I think it's the version published by Kane/Miller that's American.

My niece loves this and it's become her favourite bedtime read. The pictures are beautiful with lots of detail and she enjoys looking at the pictures and making up her own stories.

It's delightful to see her using her imagination in this way - a very sweet and adorable book.
