Our teachers in infant school used to read this book to us all the time! We all adored these poems - they're funny, touching and highly memorable.
Tales of Eddie (usually throwing a wobbly), and the secret eating of the chocolate cake have stayed with me for years and years as happy reminders of primary school.

I recommend this book to any infant school teacher, and defy anyone who reads this book and doesn't enjoy it. Everyone should have a copy - I'm so happy that it's been re-published! I had to search eBay for a copy a few years back for my sister (who's now an infant school teacher), as I couldn't find it anywhere!

You Wait Till I'm Older Than You! (Puffin poetry)

This book is a collection of perfect poems. I enjoyed most of them, however, some of the long ones made me a bit bored. My favourite poem is called `Butter and Margarine' because it is very funny and (kind of) original. It starts with: `Row, Row, Row your Boat, Gently down the Stream, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily'. Then it goes on to say `Life is but a - no it's not, it's margarine!' It is a bit of a joke but then again most of Michael Rosen (the poet)'s poems are hilarious! I would really rate this book 7/ 10 and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the need of a good laugh!

Just a really, really nice book, full of silliness and madcap humour. Spike was tuned in to children's wavelength like no one else. How he did this while suffering from depression and madness no one knows. How tragic that he suffered himself while giving such joy to so many people.

Well spaced text, also allows for clear reading and annotation. There are also plenty of activities for both in and out of the classroom, aiding student revision and coursework. This copy of the play does true justice to Shakespeare's "Othello", allowing enjoyment of the text, for student, teacher, and independent readers.

My toddler's favourite book - she continually demands 'poems please' and can recite several by heart [unprompted]. Full of rhyme and rhythm to catch the attention and spark a love of language, accompanied by light-hearted illustrations. My only complaint is that it isn't printed on tough-enough paper, even for a book-loving toddler - but the contents and the love of language should last for years, even if the book disintegrates. If I could choose only one book to accompany a child to a Desert Island, this would be it.
