This is a nice little story but is let down a little by the colours chosen for the first 2 pages of the book.

The story requires you (and your wriggly child) to follow the crumbs (dots) across each page until the Mouse finds its friend.

The problem with this otherwise lovely book is that on the first 2 pages, the background is yellow which means that the dots (also yellow) are very difficult to see and almost impossible to point out to your wriggly child.

However the crinkly trousers in the middle never fail to get my daughter's attention!

Money for old rope is the expression that springs to mind. Rod Campbell has a real niche in the lift-the-flap book market. His books have generally been very popular in our house so I ordered this to add to the collection.

Each page has a gift-wrapped flap with a picture of a present underneath. There is a small amount of text describing the present. If it wasn't for the illustrations of Christmas wrapping paper I would have thought I was re-reading "My Presents" which is fairly tedious to begin with.

Still, the children like it. It adds a small amount of variety when it's brought out in December with the other Christmas stories.

This book is amazing! My son had been learning about egypt at school & when he got this book he was over the moon. There are envelopes with bits &pieces in that make learning so much more fun than reading alone.
This kept him engrossed for ages - highly recommended.

This is the loveliest pop-up book my daughter and I have found! It's been a favourite since we got it over a year ago. It's gone from being a lovely bedtime book to looking and talking about the detail in the all the pictures.
