I bought this cd because Amazon offered it as a double deal for under a tenner! I loved the last song - Somewhere over the Rainbow and thought why not treat yourself to it, it costs nothing! Anyway,it is such a beautiful collection and I totally love it. Very relaxing to listen to but in no way boring, it lulls you, then teases you, then absorbs you - superb. I think it allows you to have a glass of wine and ponder or as I just did peel the potatoes and ponder!!! There's more than one gem on this cd - it is a collection of gems. Treat yourself!

It's one of those albums that takes it's time to really soak in like OK Computer, then it's stuck in the CD player for months. So intricate that it's got something new each time you listen.

The Debut album is a cracker in places, but Sky 2 shows their confidence to play to their strengths as a band.

Toccata gets old on repeated plays but 'Watching the Aeroplanes' is an awesome piece in 4 parts.

For the money? Can't lose, just buy it.

This is a truly iconic disc, the legendary performance that introduced an eccentric Canadian pianist to the world at large. Gould had made a sensational debut in New York with a programme that included Beethoven's Op 109 sonate, a Sweelinck fantasia and the Webern variations. Snapped up by a CBS talent scout, he requested his first release should be Bach's Goldberg Variations, a seldom performed work the Leipzig cantor wrote for an aristocratic insomniac. As the recording took place, Gould sat on his pigmy stool, swaying, groaning, humming and playing like a god. A well chosen selection of 26 mostly familiar pieces of orchestral music on 2Ds which, judging by the title and the album cover, is intended to make you feel good and smile.

I found the choices a good mix of familiar, like Handel's Zadok the Priest, Haydn's Cello Concerto No.2 and Vivaldi's Gloria, along with slightly less familiar but equally welcome pieces such as the orchestral arrangement of David Bowie's Life on Mars and Elgar's lesser played Finale from his Enigma Variations (it will be instantly recognisable to Classic FM listeners as one of the short jingles used on their radio show).

As usual Classic FM have introduced the big names, Hayley Westenra and David Garrett included, and chosen good recordings of recognised orchestras. Yes, ... Read More:

I picked this up after I was transfixed by the track Otremare which was used in the film This Is England. I'd read that most of the music by Einaudi sounds similar, yet each track is unique. I couldn't agree more. This is hughly addictive stuff. Mostly piano with the occasional string instrument thrown in, this makes for a great listen while pottering about or just winding down. I don't listen to a great deal of music like this generally so I can't really compare it to anything else or even claim to understand why I like it. But I do really like it.

I have grown to love Katherine Jenkins during the past few months for I think she is one of the best singers around at the moment.

I bought this CD for one reason, and one reason only, the track Vide Cor Meum. This duet was used in the film Hannibal, and also during the death scene of the Leper King Baldwin IV in the film Kingdom of Heaven. Here, Katherine sings the duet along with the Welsh singer Rhys Meiron. It is a divine work, beautifully played and sung.

But, to my absolute joy, I also discovered that this CD has numerous other wonderful tracks which are a joy to listen to. I loved it throughout, especially the tracks:

Time To Say Goodbye; O Sole Mio; Song To The Moon; and Mozart's little gem: Laudate Dominum.

Vaughan Williams: Fantasia On Christmas Carols, Hodie

I bought this a couple of years ago and return to it regularly - a sure sign of a good recording. I like the music of Vaughan Williams and this is a good example of his music. The Fantasia was a big surprise - its a lovely setting of some well known carols. John Barrow has a superb baritone voice. The Hodie takes a little more getting into but it is worth the effort. Both choirs and orchestra have good sounds. At this price you can't go wrong!

Excellent voices overpowered by incongruous orchestral accompaniment.The richness of the voices was spoiled for one who wants a male voice choir to be just that.This cd does more than it says on the tin,unfortunately.
