I'll keep this short. By no means does my 2-start rating mean this film is not worth a watch; it's just to reiterate that this film - despite the fact that it's near enough a 'one man show' - is nothing new. Will Smith (again) is the heroic, intelligent protagonist. Although I cannot deny that Smith gives an outstanding performance, 'I am Legend' portrays all the conventions of a typical end-of-the-world movie and I suppose I was anticipating something less generic. I think a more spectacular ending would have made all the difference; I just got the impression that the writers almost lost focus.

So where do i begin?
First things first; the movie itself is something remarkable and shows one of will smith's greatest and probably best performance he's done. From my opinion, if it weren't for him the movie would of probably been a bit rubbish.
When i first saw the film; i must admit, i didn't think much of it but when i watched it again, i was completely blown away. The way they captured the loneliness and sadness of Robert Neville's life is just incredible. When buying the film, just don't expect much of a blockbuster because this is not. Look at the film as how it was supposed to be... ...a one man show.

I thought it's potrayal of the slums in Rio was excellent. You could really feel the pain and suffering through each character, from the begining to the end, false dawns and the main character somehow coming through it all to realise his dream. Some good perfomances in there. A really good watch.

The success of this film really is all down to the acting talents of a certain Mr. Will Smith.

The plot follows Smith's character, an army scientist called Robert Neville- (are there such a thing as army scientists??), who seemingly is the last surviving human left. A virus has wiped out humanity and turned the people it didn't kill immediately into for want of a better description vampire zombies.

Most of the beginning of the film is purely Neville and his pet dog searching the city looking for food and items of use in all the abandoned apartments and stores. "Lower City" was quite good. As a whole, I enjoyed this film but was far from being blown away. All three of the leads are give an opportunity to make an impression. The script however, leaves a bit to be desired. After watching this yesterday the movies that came to mine was City of God/ Amores Perros/ Y Tu Mama Tambien simply because it was to be expected. It is one of the good films that had recently came out of South America. However, "Lower City" doesn't quite live up to its comparative brothers but does manage to create a feel of its own. I empathized with each of the characters and felt they were played brilliantly by the actors involved. There was a real sense of raw passion with the helplessness of the poverty/ crime lifestyle they find themselves in.

Foremost,I'd like to begin by saying this is a highly enjoyable film despite its faults (which aren't too numerous).It is energetic,fast paced and the acting is very convincing.It takes place in the southern state of Bahia el Salvador,Brazil.The main players being Deco and Naldinho,who have been best friends since childhood.They meet a prostitute called Karinna and the three travel together becoming deeply bonded with the lines between love,sex and friendship becoming increasingly blurred,with much detriment to the friendship of the two men.
One of my main issues with the film is that it asks alot of questions (on race,gender,social status,love and sex) but neglects to answer them,this never more present then in the last five minutes (which I won't spoil for you).This isn't ... Read More:

The best thing to do is not to read any reviews for this film, go into it blind and you will be richly rewarded.
So, in effect, stop reading now!!!!
Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Mike Terry, a ju-jitsu instructor in a struggling martial arts practice, where a turn of events occurs that tumbles him into whole new situations, both good, bad and tragic.
Whatever the world throws at him, Mike tries to do the honourable thing, an ancient notion, sometimes at odds with the modern money chasing world.
I was very pleasantly surprised by Redbelt, the many twists and turns are rarely telegraphed as per much of the current hollywood fare, the soundtrack too doesn't give the game away with bombast and fanfare either, leaving the actual acting and story to do the storytelling ... Read More:
