Absolutely loved this movie and I'm not much of a fan of Carry On. Harry H Corbett shows us amazing glimpses of his talent and genius as he hams it up with the rest of the crew. I heard that Sid James had originally been cast as the Sherlock Holmes character, but Harry was the best choice and his performance is polished and a joy to watch. Some wonderful set pieces which had me laughing out loud and the usual silly scenes we can expect from a Carry On movie. The story never gets tired and will appeal to all ages. I'm also sure that sultry Fenella Fielding could still cause a fashion stampede for replica red gowns.

How do you categorise this curious film? A war prop movie - that's essentially what it is, but it's so unlike the others of the period, and so indirect and subtle that it is hardly recognisable as one. In that respect it cannot be deemed a great success, but as a piece of film art it of course is. It is notably very English indeed, so English that it really does come across as quite superior and a bit pompous, and looks like a relic of its age, in fact a relic of an age already gone by then. This is real Rupert Brooke stuff in sentiment and in design it is pure P&P, artily set and directed. Some of the scenes are pure film art and P&P show their great gift for visualisation and for strong but ethereal scenes. They've always seemed to be heavily influenced ... Read More:

this film isn't exactly what i would call a real classic. sure, it has all the usual actors but it doen't any humourous moments, like some of the other films in the series. The ending is just plain embarissing. it made me cringe.
watch this if you a fan.
My son adores this film, i haven't discovered why yet but i've been watching him very closely and i think that some of the scenes are a little to saturating for him to handle.

The patient is Francis Bigger, played by Frankie Howerd, and the line is a sly reference to the funniest scene in Carry On Nurse. It's probably the cleverest line in Carry On Doctor. Like Carry On Nurse, Carry On Doctor takes place in hospital and, as the movie says, is a bedpanorama of hospital life.
The long-running Carry On movies were bawdy, low-comedy, good-natured madhouses that featured a repertory company of comics we came to recognize instantly. Here, the company is made up of Kenneth Williams, Jim Dale, Hattie Jacques, Sid James, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey, Barbara Windsor and Bernard Bresslaw, among others. They play the patients, the doctors and the nurses at Finisham Hospital. If you relish jokes about bedpans and hernias, where any possible activity ... Read More:

This is definately my favourite of all of the Carry On Films. It is laughter from the moment it starts.
Kenneth Williams as Stuart Farquhar is fantastic especially when Peter Butterworth as the Spanish Hotel owner says 'Stupid What? when he first introduces his name.
Joan Sims and Sid James as husband and wife are hysterical and the scene where Sid smashes through the patio window when he thinks it hasnt got any glass in it, is superb........Joan Sims laughter really makes that scene and its so contageous.
The whole supporting cast are brilliant and there really is not just one star of this film they are all great. (Lovely Bernard Breslaw as Brother Bernard and the beautiful Carol Hawkins as the girl he takes a shine to....so many others to mention, of course Barbara ... Read More:
