One star and five star reviews for this film should be laughed at, as you will many great moments in the first half of this film.
At some point the laughs had to run out, there is only so much script in an alcoholic super hero.
When that happens and the plot twist occurs, which many will see coming, you've just got to enjoy looking at the tunning Charlize Theron and patiently await the end of the film.

Hank Deerfield (played by Tommy Lee Jones) is a retired veteran and military police officer searching for his son who has gone AWOL. Detective Emily Sanders (Charlize Theron) becomes interested in the case and starts helping Hank outside of her job. When Hank's son's body is found, the search suddenly turns into a search for the murderer.
Tommy Lee Jones gives one of his best performances as a relentless, humourless driven father, who has not been the best father, but doesn't rest until he finds the closure he desperately needs on the matter of the murder of his son.
Susan Sarandon was totally underused in the part of Hanks wife, but the little we are shown of her is riveting.

It has to be said that of the 3 series of Arrested Development this is probably the most erratic in terms of storyline, however if you've read some of the other reviews you'll realise that towards the end of this series both cast and crew knew that this treasure of a show was coming to an abrupt, untimely end. This of course meant that loose ends that had been waiting to be tied up since the beginning, plus much newer story arcs needed to be resolved much quicker than the writers originally planned.
Despite all these circumstances the quality of this series certainly doesn't pale compared to the 2 preceding series. In fact you find the writers using this rather dire situation positively and using it as a basis for much of the jokes. The episode ... Read More:

An essential film on the history of the US Navy and the integration of the first blacks ... in the kitchens, and then the integration of the first Black as deck personnel and later as US Navy Diver. It was not easy. But we must note that the dedication on the sleeves of the DVD is absurd. It says "History is made by those who break the rules." In fact the ostracism against this first Black diver goes against the rules that come from the Commander in Chief, the President of the US who ordered the integration of US armed forces. In fact some officers who are living in their racist traditions can actually give an order to drown the black diver and this black diver is graduated because the training officer decides to disobey the order from this commanding officer ... This film was based on a novel by Steven Pressfield but the real inspiration was from the Hindu Epic The Mahabaharata where there is an interesting conversation that leads to the holiest of Hindu Scriptures known as the Bhagavad Gita. Will Smith as Bagger Vance (pronounced in an Indian way as Bhagawan; another name for Krishna) is brilliant and is ably supported by Matt Damon as R. Junuh (alternatively pronounced as Arjuna). The story shows Smith as a caddy and also spiritual guide to Damon...as in the Bhagavad Gita.
A nice, tender film at the hand of writer/director Robert Redford. Matt Damon is the leading man in this film as a former golfer that brushes up on his talents of the past, whilst Will Smith plays a supporting guardian angel type of character which ... Read More:

Did anyone notice that the Satan's name in this entertaining-but-flawed flick is Milton, and that the marble reliefs which come to tantalizing life on Al Pacino's wall also allude to the great English poet's masterpiece?
I feel that "Devil's Advocate" has some good material, including touches of humor, some stunning cinematographic effects, and the performances by Ms. Theron and Al Pacino, who chews the scenery with such devilish panache that he dominates Keanu Reeves (but perhaps that is the point). And while the film, which combines legal ethics (or the lack of them) with the "Rosemary's Baby" genre, held my interest from start to finish, it did not quite come together--whether because of choppy editing or the "Dallas" option that precedes the ending, I am not certain. I ... Read More:

Incredible animation and attention to detail make you really believe the illusion of life in the creature. A great family film to enjoy again and again.
