Spaniards are dressed in black and have mean, scowling faces. They are the ugly catholic baddies out to get whatever they can in the name of religion. Oh my goodness me yes...
England is a clean, gloriously-lit kingdom with a gorgeous, sexy queen that smoulders with her on-screen beau, the dashing, Bond-esque Sir Walter 'oh what a big ship I've got' Raleigh (see below). She bathes amidst the glow a million candles with her cute (blemish-free, full-head-of-teeth) handmaid. Lord Essex didn't exist, Lord Darnley didn't exist and the entire armada was defeated in 15 minutes! And Walter Raleigh's Walther PPK didn't jam once!
God, I love history! It makes me want to return the those wonderful days in the sun-drenched San ... Read More:

Why did I not hear about this film when it was out on cinema?
AT LAST......some original scripts. One of the cleverest films I have seen in a long time, and is mentally stimulating.
If you like "shoot em up's" avoid it. If you want a quality original film, snap Amazon's hand off at it's current price. UNDERVALUED.
What I like, is quality films lose their value quickly (suits ME) and rubbish "shoot em up's" hold their price better. If you want the latter, buy a Playstation.

Alfonso Cuaron's beautifully shot, well acted depiction of a dystopian near future in which a xenophobic dictatorship has let slip all responsibility in favour of repression and in which the population's response is blanket infertility, feels uncomfortably plausible, yet it doesn't quite work. For all the subtlety of the cinematography, including intelligent use of the single long take and some truly fine set pieces by Clive Owen, the distillation of the world's problems down to xenophobia and Fascism and of the solution down to more new human life is unconvincing.
The current fashion for allegory is overworked here ~ the pregnant woman is "Kee" ~ geddit? And the saviour (Clive Owen) is "Theo" ~ Greek for "God". The nod to the idea of ... Read More:

This film is entirely implausible yet thoroughly entertaining (as long as you can get over how ridiculous it is). In the end though, it is it's complete step away from reality that makes it so much fun and is one of the main selling points of the film to me. It's a good bit of escapism and a real laugh. I definitely don't think it has ever set out to take itself too seriously, so why should anyone else.
When it started i was really rolling my eyes but once you get into this it's really great. Sit back and enjoy the ride :-)

I bought this because it would save me space. It's the size of a normal DVD box, feels great and looks slick.
The DVD's in themselve are great as everyone knows. A fourth? It might be in the pipeline but wasn't written by the guy who wrote the original books.
The story as it goes in brief if you haven't already discovered. Bourne is an agent for the US government. Sent to do a job which goes array. He losses his memory and from the beginning of the first film, Bourne tries to recall who he is and tries to work out his memories.
The plot starts in the Med. and takes us on a rollercoaster of a ride. Visiting all the big hitters in Europe. France, Germany, England to the USA for a grand finale.
Sin City is a stylish, violent, gripping movie - taken almost identically from Frank Miller's comic book you know what you are expecting and Sin City does not disappoint. Sexy beyond belief with Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Brittany Murphy all dripping with sex appeal seldom seen in films, scantily clad and plain and simply gorgeous - it works for Sin City. That's before we mention the girls of Old Town.
Graphic, stylised violence of first class order - especially in Marv's story which is probably my favourite - always quick pacing, tough gritty and exciting with a story that'll keep you watching. Elijah Wood plays his role really well, much more convincing than as Frodo in LOTR.
If you like a slow paced, character driven movies without much violence ... Read More:

Closer is a great movie - sophisticated, clever, intelligent, witty and brilliantly acted. I live Clive Owen in this - he's pompous, arrogant and ultimately brilliant. Natalie Portman does a great job too, and the scene in the strip club is worth the watch alone for any red blooded male. Jude Law also deserves credit for his portrayal of his character.
Each character has things in their closet which most people can relate to in one way or another. If you are looking for an ideal relationship rom-com this might not be your scene, but for a dark, truthful look at love -Closer is certainly one of the best.
It's a difficult film to describe, so I won't really bother trying - A film about the inter-woven relationships of four people who randomly meet in London ... Read More:

I really enjoyed this film, I've seen hundreds of films and love thrillers, but I can honestly say that I've never seen a film quite like this before.
I guess this is a thriller that's also a psychological thriller with some really good twists and turns.
I do wonder sometimes if Clive Owen is truly a lead actor or not, but here he proves that he is in what could well be his best performances that I've seen of his to date, Jennifer Aniston is also in fine form in a role completely away from any other role I've seen her in, then there's the performance of Vincent Cassel who's superb as the villain, for me he's the best screen villain that I've seen for sometime.
It's difficult to say anything else about the film as it could give the game away, I try ... Read More:

After 4 years i finally watched this DVD right through, out of curiosity more then anything else. I admit the battle scenes were actually authentic, though perhaps a little OTT with the blood sometimes, although that was what warfare was like back then. They wanted to make a gritty and unromantic portrayal of the era and the filmmakers have succeded in doing that.
However i detected a faint whiff of liberalistic revisionism. I thought Arthur was supposed to be a christian hero, not some wishy washy pelagian.
The roles and character of the historical figures of bishops pelagius and germannus seem to have been completely inverted. Pelagius' erroneus ideas caused a lot of trouble and confusion amongst the church in britain and europe at this time, Germannus was sent to Britain ... Read More:
