This is cracking stuff. Plenty of stunts, good one liners, car chases, gunfights - in fact it's pretty much perfect action cinema. A guaranteed good evening's TV.

I grew up watching the original film so I expected not to like this version as much but I actually prefer it.
It's a lot darker than the original film and I found it very amusing.
I wasn't so impressed with all the added parts about Willy Wonka's father but apart from that it was all good. I think it's one of those films that's just as good for adults as it is for children.
And of course it has Johnny Depp in it, which is a great bonus!

"The Crow" is excellent in so many ways. First, Brandon Lee is unique, torn between grief and eagerness to avenge his and Shelley's death, the directing is outstanding and far above the standard of this genre, the visuals are a blast. In fact the entire cast - even the smaller roles - were excellently cast. There is nothing bad I can say about this movie. A MUST SEE!

This film is great. I would recommend it time and time again. If at first you don't see the wonder of it...you must watch it more than once, you will then see the depth with which I believe it was intended to portray.

Ned Devine lives in a small, rural, old-fashioned Irish village and wins the national lottery. Unfortunately, the shock of winning gives him an immediate and fatal heart-attack. The entire village, led by two of Ned's friends, conspire to collect and share the money by impersonating Ned and fooling the lottery officials.

Lots of beautiful scenery. The Irish accents are sometimes difficult to understand.

Ian Bannen and David Kelly are wonderful as the two who run the impersonation scam. They make perfect old scoundrels or curmudgeons. Everyone seems believable as inhabitants of a small, rural Irish village.

This is a movie that makes you laugh occasionally but smile a lot. The naked motorcycle ride is hilarious, as is the village "witch" ... Read More:

The Rock has to rate as one of my all-time favourite films so I just had to watch it in High Definition. With almost non-stop action and some great one-liners you have got to put this on your rental list. **********(10 stars)

Tina - What's Love Got To Do With It [1993]

Despite Angela Bassett bearing little resemblance to Tina Turner (and Fishbourne to Ike Turner for that matter) the movie works because of the outstanding performances of these two actors. So strong is Bassett's performance as Tina that this issue becomes irrelevant. Angela becomes Tina.

Based on the book "I, Tina", the film focusses on Tina's life story up to her amazing comeback in 1984. However, I've always wondered how much of the film is factual considering it was only based on the book.

There are several scenes which are violent and give us some understanding on how horrible life became for Tina while married to Ike. I admire her commitment to stay with the Turner Revue, and being a mother to four children (of which two were not hers). People ask, ... Read More:
