Not much else I can add to the heaps of adulation & praise already mentioned in other reviews - except to say this trilogy is my favourite movie....EVER! I never get tired of watching this epic (in fact each viewing seems to reveal something new) and I'm STILL in awe and wonder at the sheer scale of the production & talent that must have gone into making this abitious project come to life. It's nigh on perfect... A classic in every sense.
PS: I can only assume that the small handful of people that somehow think these movies are 'boring'(??!) must have their heads wired differently to the rest of us....!!

I thought this was a pretty awful film. The plot did not hang together well and it was intellectually pretentious without any real substance. Quite frankly, Waking the Dead or even Midsomer Murders are more entertaining alternatives and cost a lot less to make and indeed, to watch.

I truly believe that 'the Lord of the Rings' is one of the greatest stories ever told. The tale of Frodo Baggins and the ring of power continues in the second part of the trilogy, where Frodo and Sam are continuing their relentless qyest to Mordor to destory the ring, only to be joined by the sinister yet pitiable creature known as Gollum. Meanwhile, Merry & Pip try their hardest to escape from the evil orcs who captured them at the end of 'The Fellowship of the Ring', whilst gimley, Legolas and Aragorn meet a king and immediatley sense something is not right. Old characters reurn and new ones are introduced as the tale of the Ring grows closer to it's end.
The extended edition is far superior to the original, though the amount of time ... Read More:

I am not usually a fan of short films, but Paris Je T'aime is a surprisingly good collection of *very* short (about five minutes each!) films about life in Paris. There are eighteen films in all, and, predictably enough, some are better than others. Yet the overall quality was very good, and a few were outstanding. Most of them have something to do with romance or love, but other than that the collection is diverse. There is comedy, tragedy and even horror. Most of these films manage to actually tell complete stories in a mere five minutes.
I especially enjoyed Steve Buscemi (in a non-speaking role) as a pathetic tourist who makes the mistake of staring at an arguing couple in a Metro station. Also very good was a tale of vampire love. This one had a ... Read More:

So this is it. Yet another cinematic trilogy draws to a close. Great things comes in threes : the Star Wars Trilogy. The Omen Trilogy. Indiana Jones. The Omen. The Godfather. The Matrix (er, maybe I should rethink this particular theory).
And now this. The final four hours of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. But this isn't a trilogy, nor is it just a remake or a continuation (it's not The Lord Of The Rings 3-d : The Revenge, for example), simply the third and final part of the story.
And my god, it's long. Two hundred and ten bum-numbing minutes. That's three times as long as Toy Story. There's not even an intermission : just a constant, endless trawl of dialogue, CGI, and stuff. Endless long panning shots - Look At This! It's Big! It's Slow! It's got.... ... Read More:

First and foremost you MUST like films with lots of subtitles in them, at least 75% of the dialogue is in Ukrainian so unless you speak the language then you 'll have to rely on subtitles for the vast majority of the film.
Elijah Wood puts in a good solid performance aided by Eugene Hutz who's also good, there's some good humour here too, after watching the trailer I was hoping for a film that would help to escape reality for 100 minutes or so, maybe something like I heart Huckabees, sadly this did not reach those heights for me.
As a film itself I'd give it 3 stars, but as I loath subtitled films (some are fine, but this is just too much for me) this means I have to downgrade my mark.
The DVD fails to indicate anything other than this being ... Read More:

If I could, I would give this movie 100 stars. There's nothing I can really say that hasn't already been said - so I'll sum up the trilogy in a few words.

I watched this film over two days ago, and have found it increasingly difficult to think of anything else since. An unnassuming, honest, off-beat, film , 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' is one of those movies that will grow on you and make you want to watch it time and time again, and is intelligent and thought-provoking enough to keep you captivated on repeated viewings.
Boasting none of the usual hollywood glitz, though the cast list is definately something to show off about, 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' follows the shy, quite and often seemingly 'boring' Joel Barish, who, after dating a girl called Clementine for several years visits her one day, only to discover she has no recollection of who he is and has in fact had him intentionally and entirely erased from her ...
