I watched this with my girlfriend and she (like a lot of women I hear) was in floods of tears.
Call me a "typical bloke" if you will, but I was not emotionally drawn into it. I didn't see any chemistry between Swank and Butlers characters so never really bought their relationship. I thought Swanks character had better chemistry with that of Connick Jrs.
Anyhow, it's an ok film with some funny moments - had the casting been a bit better I too may have had a tear in my eye

I already owned this film on DVD and loved it. I bought the Blue-ray edition to get even more out of such a great film. What Amazon don't tell u is that this edition is an edited version which in reality is 9 minutes shorter than my DVD version. My one star rating is purely based on another money spinning project....... no doubt in a year or so we'll get the Blue-ray Directors cut coming out. Unfortunately for me i couldn't return it as I never watched it as soon as it arrived.

I rarely bother to write reviews about films I don't like, preferring to celebrate those that I do. However I make an exception for this film because I think people should be warned.
Dull, cheesy, nauseous tripe. Unlikeable characters (even Sandra Bullock), no humour and zero chemistry between the leads. I have to stress that this is not a romcom, it is a tragic tale of ghastly people, the heroine is a doormat and the hero a stalker.
You would have to pay me a considerable amount of money even to watch it again, never mind give the dvd house room.
If you are of an extremely (stress extremely) sentimental disposition, you might enjoy some of it. But if you have an iota of cynicism, or like your romance light, ... Read More:

Seen this at the cinema and a couple of times on TV.Bought this to try out my new KEF Kit 100 system and was not disappointed.Still makes you think how young these "men" were and a visit to the American War Cemetery at Madingley nr Cambridge only confirms this.

I'll keep this as short as possible.
I remember around 7 years ago, I watched this for the first time. I was quite young and I was absolutely mesmerized by it. Today, I had a craving to watch it again for the first time in 7 years. I dug out the old dusty VHS from the attic and played it. After watching it once again, I was completely blown away. The animation has not a aged a bit and the story is as touching as ever.
Don't pass the chance up to watch this classic. A legendary film that I shall remember for the rest of my life.

Please note that this review contains spoilers.
The Iron Giant is a film that is almost totally unique in the history of contemporary animation. It is a provoking and poignant story that is exciting without being brainless and thoughtful without being condescending.
I won't go into the particulars of the story itself since that is probably summarised by Amazon and most other reviewers. Instead I will say that this film has a particular gift which is to teach children by treating them as adults and to entertain adults in a child-like way. It is moving and funny and entertaining; never straying too far from the habits of its characters in order to thrust a moral lesson home, nor suspending story for the sake of a joke and, perhaps most importantly, not afraid ... Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) stars as psychologist Helen Hudson, who is asked to assist in a crime case involving a serial killer who is copying famous serial killers methods.
Copycat is a complex and exciting thriller from director Jon Amiel, a fast and sophisticated film about finding the truth, and dealing with the consequences along the way. The plot is well written, without over doing the action, and dealing with criminal masterminds on both sides of the law.
Copycat is different from other crime thrillers by being more technically accurate and less on the action and more on the psychology behind the crime case. The plot will require plenty of attention with plenty of twists and flashbacks encoded and come the end, you may be slightly lost but is definitely ... Read More:

Panama after the Reagan's military intervention. The American armed forces are trying to keep the main passage of south American drug up north to the US under control. But that does not mean it is really what happens. In fact drug is flowing abundantly but not freely. Things have to be organized in the hands of the US citizens here, at least some of them, under a uniform or not. In one of the military special, very special units the sergeant discovers the truth and wants to stop it when on a mission. He will end up dead and several other members too, but the transportation of the drug out of the jungle and onto a plane to the US, along with one of the bodies will nearly succeed, though it will fail because the special agent and the female captain he is teaming with find out some details neither ... To think that I wasted an hour and a half watching this and £3.50 to watch this on Virgin Media, that's what my title should really be. It's fair to say that I was expecting more of a horror film as such, not like Scream or Halloween but more Cabin Fever, however this wasn't like any of those mentioned.
For a while it's going alright, a bit slow for my liking but not painfully slow, til the last 30 mins where it just gets ridiculous and I stopped caring, although not very much really happened in the film other than the 2 main characters got naked from time to time and talked.
I don't think it really did very well as a psychological film, I enjoyed Donnie Darko and American Beauty and Hide & Seek until I saw the ending, maybe it just wasn't for me, though not many other people ... Read More:
