Sons And Lovers [2003]

starring: Sarah Lancashire, Hugo Speer, James Murray (XIII), Rupert Evans (II), Esther Hall
directed by: Stephen Whittaker

January 14, 2003
This DVD has had so many scenes removed (censored) it is now nothing like the one originally shown on TV, to the point where if one had never read or seen Sons and Lovers it would make no sense at all, the scene where Clara ( Esther Hall) says that it is no longer tenable for her to remain in her position at work, one has to wonder why as in this version it seems that nothing had gone on between them just stange looks. If anyone knows where to obtain the orignal uncut version this would make a lot more sense.

All The King's Men [1999]

starring: David Jason, Maggie Smith, William Ash, Sonya Walger, Stuart Bunce
directed by: Julian Jarrold

November 15, 1999
This is about the true story of the kings household staff were formed and sent of to fight during WW1 and the battle of Gallipoli between Britian and Turkey were they met there tragic end. All the acting and the battle scenes respectively are well written and performed but it is both David Jason and Ian Mcdirmid who give brilliant performances and really make this shine. A well done story with charachters who were you could not help but feel for.

directed by: Jonathan English

Firstly, I'm a James Murray fan, so I was already pre-disposed to like this film, just because of who was in it. As it turned out, I enjoyed the film on its own merits and because James Murray was in it 90% of the time.

The entire film/story is viewed through the lens of a handheld video camera alternatively used by one or other of three friends as they attempt to put together a money making film to cash in on the recent interest in UK Gangsta drama's.

The technique used means the images are often skewed and off kilter depending on who's holding the camera, and it often looks little better than your average home movie. But there's a fair bit of black humour and you can't help laughing at some of the antics the three ... Read More:
